SCCA Autocross practice event May 2nd

Just made official from our Solo RE & the Solo Crew:
Texas Region SCCA Solo will be having a No Points/No Trophy - Practice event on Saturday, May 2nd in Mineral Wells the day before regular event #3!

Entry Fee for the day will only be $15.

Registration for the practice will soon be added to the online AXware service but "walk-up" registration will be allowed too.

Registration/check-in & Tech Inspection will be at 10:00am at the site.

After the practice event is over, we will be having an "unofficial" Cookout/Picnic/Party at the site.
- Hamburgers, Hotdogs (or whatever else crawls on the grill) & all the "fixings".

>> Rumor has it that there might be a COLD keg of beer & possibly a cooler of margaritas that evening! <<

Notice: You don't have to enter the Practice to attend the Party afterwards! All are welcomed at the Party!!!

If you plan on attending the party after the event, please send an e-mail to autoxmax@tx.rr.com so we know how many folks to expect.

BTW - Several folks are staying at the site that evening! Camping on-site will be allowed!
A good way to get some cheap seat time!

Are you going to the practice? I'm still undecided on that.

But I will definitely be going to the Sunday event. See you all there!

Yah, I corded two nearly new front tires, 285/30-18 Hoosier A6's, with two drivers (12 long, fast runs total) at Mineral Wells. It's fun, but can be costly in tire $. That will be my last visit to that deteriorating surface.

The surface is pretty bad but despite that, I will still be there. It's still fun and you can get some pretty long runs.

It's really a lot worse on r-comps than on street tires because they're much softer. Sean and myself have done at least 3 events there last year and we're still on the same street tires now - at least I am. It does scuff them down and it is noticable -- but it's not that bad and you can get some long runs with some good speed so it's worth it to me.

We usually caravan out there for this event. We meet up in the morning somewhere and drive there together. So if you want to go, or anyone else, let us know and we'll arrange a meet up so we can make the long trip as a group.
