Ok I got a ticket
Ok I got a ticket
I got a ticket 2 days ago.I was seeing if the cop didn't make me sign it is it just a warning or dose it not mean anything. Cause in GA if you don't sign it. It means ****. If you know please lmk.
So let me get this straight, the cop wrote you a ticket, but you didn't have to sign it? I assume he gave you your copy of the ticket? I have never heard of this. Hmmmmm.....does it say on the ticket (if you got your copy) anything about a court date or respond by this time? Ok, I did a quick google search and this is what I found:

“The officer did not have me sign the ticket. If I do not show up for court the ticket will be dismissed.”
Some states have a line on the traffic citation where you acknowledge the summons and agree to appear for court. It doesn’t matter if you sign or not, you are still required to be in court on the date listed on the ticket. If this were true, nobody would sign and all speeding tickets would have to be dismissed. Not going to happen.
If you do not appear you will be found guilty, a fine will be added for failure to appear, and a warrant will be issued for your arrest. Quite possibly your driver’s license will also be suspended. Texas is the only exception. In Texas if you refuse to sign the ticket you will earn yourself a “Go Directly to Jail” card.

Dude, just deferred judification, if you don't get another ticket in the same county for 6 months the original speeding ticket doesn't go on your record. Just call the city in which you got the ticket and they will help you. Its a paper work trail, just takes a little up keep on your part.
How much is the fine? How fast were you going over?

Yes, you can do deferred judification, you just can't do it when you go over 25mph from the posted speed limit. Just call the court and they will guide you through the process.
Or you can do defensive driving, either online or rent the video at blockbuster. Either way, it won't go on your record. And 9 times out of 10, either way will be cheaper than just paying the ticket.

Defensive Driving.. It's cheaper than deferred and it goes off your record once you finish the class regardless of what happens afterwards. With deferred, you're on a probationary period where if you get another ticket, they both go on your record - or something like that.
You can do up to one a year. I've done defensive 3 times in the past 5 years. Since I've spaced all my violations out more than one year apart (knock on wood), I have a squeaky clean record. All three tickets - like they never happened.
