I'd like to hear how this sounds compared to my Magnaflow with just a single straight through 3" tube.

My senior year in college there was a group doing a project for D&D exhaust in fort worth, they build Harley Davidson and sport bike exhaust systems and mufflers. The project was to reduce sound with minimal impact to performance, they experimented with putting a cupped triangle in the inlet to the muffler. It reduced the sound amplitude but the tone was the same, and the airflow was minimally impacted. I'm guessing this borla system works on the same idea.

Also I made a few mufflers in my day for the formula cars, and even with a straight through perforated pipe in the middle, how loud the muffler is mostly due to the packing material in the muffler. Most people tend to try to pack the crap out of the mufflers with tightly packed fiberglass packing material, but thats wrong, essentially that is making the muffler closer and closer to a nonperforated straight pipe which is loud. The better thing to do is less use less packing and actually break it up, the looser the better I found. I guess way more information than anyone wanted on mufflers....... but I'm with you Kracka, I want to hear the way this borla system sounds, its pretty interesting.

Thanks for the info. Back in my sportbike days those mufflers always had some pretty funky baffles inside the canisters.

How much quieter is this vs our 3" straight thru designs? My car needs to go on a sound diet badly.

Im going to try to get sound clips for everyone. Its not obnoxiously loud, just stays deep until it gets a little buzzy up top due to the EVOs gearing at 70mph+!

Nice exhaust!!!!

For everyone looking for quiet sounding exhaust I love my Apexi N1. Plus it extends past the bumper and so far no melting.
