Possibly moving to TX

I have been getting rental properties here in Iowa but i'm now looking at moving to Texas(im done with winter). I will be making a trip down to Dallas to have a look at some properties this June but I would really like some input from you guys as areas to stay away from, places to look or people to contact. So far im looking in Plano, North dallas, some in the Ft. Worth area and one in highland park. Thanks guys would really like to make this happen.

Good choice. My wife and I moved here from Minneapolis in October 2009 and absolutely love it, zero regrets. We live in The Colony which is just northwest of Plano; great access to numerous highways.

Im from plano, there is some really good inventory house, do you have kids in grade school, one community here is front of grade school. I love my place cause im near Highway 75, near the hospital, mall outlet mall etc. Allen is a good place too or frisco.
This peaceful community is conveniently located near Highways 75 and 121. Plano is ranked America's Safest City, and Collin County is ranked #14 in the Top 20 of the Best Places to Raise a Family according to Forbes.com.

No kids, just me and my girlfriend will be moving down. Im currently calculating total investment for cost and north dallas/ plano seems to be the best area( plano in particular has 93% occupancy rate as of nov 10). Kracka what was the cost of living difference from MN?

There is no State income tax. Thats for one. I would not personally live within Dallas city limits. Collin county and denton county are best. Unless you can afford Highland park area

CHEAP! No state income tax in TX is huge and housing is much cheaper than Minneapolis (apartments and homes). Plus salaries seem to be higher here from what I've seen. Honestly the only thing I've found to be more expensive here are property taxes.

And I was wondering about the Grand homes thing. They have been sued so many times including a big class action in Collin county

for what case, i think all builder has some issues on something. if your unlucky it's like buying a lemon car. the best way to be sure with your house is buy a 3 acre land and have your own architec and builder.
