Thumbs down Transmission work

So, I think I need my transmission repaired / worked on. I believe the second and third gear synchros are going bad, daily driving, I will get locked out of both, shifting below 4000 RPMS. If I go WOT, it will not shift at all. I tried some things on the back roads where I lived, praying to god a cow didn't cross the road. Interesting thing is, though, I have no grinding while doing it all and when I did searches on here, everyone else, well, the ones I looked at, reported grinding when they got locked out. I still think Synchros though, any other helpful ideas out there?? I'm using a poly front mount and a torque dampner with a MB7-XTSS clutch kit. Street sprung disk. Thanks.

Edit: Forgot to add, does anyone know of a olace that repairs transmission? Reliably* As I am unsure if I will be able to cover the bill to send to Shep or not.

Shep is $895 plus shipping.

I doubt you'll find a local shop who can do as good a job for the same price. If it's not done right, it's not worth doing at any price.

Replace your clutch, ACT Extreme PP + sprung street disc = lockout.

Get yourself a better clutch setup and you'll be fine. Heck, if you want to be cheap just throw a new sprung 6-puck disc in it. Those Extreme pressure plates are overkill though, I suggest stepping down to the Heavy Duty unless you're making an insane amount of power.

EvoD just rebuilt my transmission, replaced all the synchros, etc.. I did not opt for the shep treatment as I do not drag or have a ton of power. I do road race however, and the tranny is holding up just fine.

We aren't the ones rebuilding them. I just have a guy locally who does it. Only issue is how long it takes can vary a lot. I have a reference for another tranny place I'm going to check out. Essentially I'm just using them for stock rebuilds. If you want it strong, we use shep.

I do have a 5 speed core I can get built for you . Then you'll have no down time. Although that doesn't change the fact that the Xtreme duty clutch doesn't work well.

You could try with a clutch adjustment before looking at new trannys etc...
