Thanks guys. In regards to the blue tints, part of me (the ricer) sometimes likes it, but I am a very practical person and blocking my headlights of full light is plain dumb. I'm not even sure how to remove it, its not a film, its painted on. I thought I might be able to buff it off, but given how expensive everythng is for an Evo (very unlike a dsm), I am extremely hesitant (also, I've never buffed using a machine and have only done one of those headlight restoration things).

The tires-awesome, probably will purchase the Sumitomos. Its an AWD, should be ok I hope.

If it is painted on, all it takes is lots of sandpaper and some soapy water. Followed by one of the headlight restoration kits. I started with 800, then 1000, then 1500, then 2000.

I had completely blacked out my tail lights using VHT Nite-shades paint. Here is the finished project after all the elbow grease and removing my finger prints.

Nope. Didn't need apply any clear. The headlight restoration kits work really well if you get the multi-stage ones with several abrasive pads, lubricating spray (hehe), and a compounding liquid. That crap advertised on TV doesn't work.

Did you do this by hand or was this machine powered (drill, orbital tool, etc.).

All by hand. Took everything off the car and just sanded away. I'd be happy to help you if you want. But it will have to wait until February because I have too many obligations for school and my race Evo right now.

I live in McKinney. Work in Richardson, use my evo for dd so you may spot me on 75. One thing I've been thinking about is how I'm going to pass the safety inspection with no cat? In Illinois, they just hooked up the OBD2 and scanned for codes, no visual inspection whatsoever.

thats not a problem at all. they usually don't do visual inspections here either. obd2 codes are pulled and tint is checked are the two big things.

Totally on a side note regarding blacked out headlights... Judges have rules and set a precedent that if you are rear ended but have blacked out headlights that are not DOT... Its your fault... be aware. Its a real good way to have your insurance double.

I passed without a cat just fine. I failed at first and had to apply the OBDII Readiness patch for inspection. After that it passed with flying colors.

If you have tinted windows and worry about passing, roll down the windows and pull the window fuse. It is not a state requirement to have working side windows. I did this before on my RX-8.
