I was hoping to get enough for my hot tub but no such luck. Just enough for a new mattress, a new garage door opener, and a impact wrench to change wheels at the track. So really not too bad. Next year it's hot tub for sure.

I owed, but I knocked it down pretty good over the past 6 mos taking more out of my check. Don't know what next year will be like, as it will be the first time in a decade I haven't filed jointly.

If your paying amt---you need to revisit your write offs. You have something thats triggering amt. find it and dont claim it. I had to drop what I thought was a write off for the wifes job that was trigger it.. You dont get the write off anyway. remember for every dollar you write off you only get .20c credit---so not worth the effort if you end up paying. Now I realize eveyone situaltion is different--just pointing out the obvious.

I got over $2k back. Next year won't be the same case I'm sure, but I'd rather take the hit in taxes and get a salary instead of being stuck in school.

I thought I would post this here since some don't know what AMT actually is.

Not me. I'm far from being considered "well off."
