Anyhow, the ticket is 5 points...ive never gone 40mph over before. I have been pulled over many years ago doing 75 in a 55. The prosecutor brought it down to a 11 over (2 pt ticket). 4 points, isnt really something to say its nothing about. Now he has to go to driving school and hope to god he doesnt get pulled over during his one year probation.

I am almost positive New Jersey has changed this so that it's IMPOSSIBLE for something like this to happen.
Obviously it wasn't considered wreckless driving by the cop because he only gave him a ticket for speeding 40mph over the limit... criminal speeding. Again, $500 or less and 5 points max.

assuming its the same over there
You definately can't do this in NJ. That would be nice though. Sounds like they treat court like the dentists office in CA???

i paid $33 for a 4 point ticket... it was a township cop though so i dunno about state cops... ask about a dismissal slip.. They only give you 1 or 2 in your lifetime and i opt to take it becasue 4 points would increase my insurance outragously....

You should get a lawyer, or consult one. the judge sees you as more responsible having a lawyer there. This is a serous offense to be 40mph over the speed limit.

GOOD LUCK

I would definitely go to court, you're almost guarenteed to lower the fine and points. Good luck to you man...

How much do you think 110 in a 40 would set you back? I saw an evo in CT doing it, it was cool to watch from standing still on the side of the road.

I got pulled over this summer in New Hampshire by a state trooper doing 101mph in a 65mph zone. The cop said he could throw me in jail immediately and give me a court date for wreckless driving b/c I was doing 25mph+ over the limit. Well since I was from Canada, he let me go with a 90mph ticket (wrote 90+ on the ticket). It ended up being 200$US and 3 points.
Best of luck man!
