stock suspension the MR is a good bit more comfortable to drive every day. the 6 speed is very nice for the street too, but for autocross you will never get above 3rd gear, so the ratios for 1st and 2nd will be the same as the 5 speed i believe.

what is nice about the MR is the aluminum smattered all over the car. makes it a bit lighter than the GSR, and i am a sucker for my gun metal BBS wheels

the only real issue with the MR over the GSR is fitament of a downpipe. many of them will not clear the 6spd tranny. the Invidia 3" SS one fits like a glove though, i have had no issues with it. other than that you're good to go.

Not to mention the MR has a fancy gauge pack.

what are you looking to spend on a car? With the mileage my car has now I was just planning on keeping it but I'd entertain an offer.

I have a IX SE by the way.

I drive mine every day with pretty stiff 10k/12k springs in the city, potholes and all. It's surprisingly livable.
Would you like to have power windows and door locks? I bet we could do a trade! Heck i'd even think about the rear window with wiper!

I was under the impression ratios were different especially after seeing your shift points on some of the events I made it to... Not that I was trying to copy your performance tho

Stevers,

Being that you plan to autox competitively, I would check on the gear ratio im sure its around here somewhere. If I remember correctly it came into play on some fast courses where I could hold 2nd that few mph longer.

Yes this was something I was considering as well. Haven't done the calculations yet but the 5 speed is taller which leads to less shifting. This is especially key against STI's in STU and BSP. I believe the evo's gears are taller than the STI's which helps the evo's on high speed courses.

2006 - Gear Ratios
EVO & EVO RS.................... EVO MR
1st: 2.785:1 .................... 1st: 2.909:1
2nd: 1.950:1 .................... 2nd: 1.944:1
3rd: 1.444:1 .................... 3rd: 1.434:1
4th: 1.096:1 .................... 4th: 1.100:1
5th: 0.761:1 .................... 5th: 0.868:1
Final drive: 4.529:1 ..........6th: 0.693:1 Final drive: 4.583:1

I just read that. How many miles on the car now? Any more updated mods to add on to the list in the thread? Still have the stock parts?

Only problems I have is some of the mods take me out of STU: catless tbe, fuel pump, boost controller, and probably your ecu.

Your last post on that thread puts you in my price range. Let me know when you get a chance.

hmm interesting indeed. i had always been told that 1st and 2nd were the same ratio but that 3rd, 4th, and 5th were shortened to make room for 5th with the same final drive.

out of curiosity where are you guys with 5spd IX's redlining in second gear? i am usually right around 62mph on the stock rev limiter.

Quick math but it only looks like a 1/2 mph faster... So either the 9s changed the ratio or I was making it up...

Denny,

Thanks for going the extra mile trying to make this happen. I appreciate it.

Of course now that your snow X cancellation is official we'll have snow until June.

Yeah sorry - I tried.

We can def. get a private auto-x. During peak times the VDA is $950 to rent so we can go from there and decide how many people want to go in on it and break the price down from there. I'd definitely do that - I'm always in for paying a little more for less people if I get more time in the car.
