HD is pretty is amazing. Football and hockey is especially good. Just be careful with the video games on plasma's. A big no no. Plasma's are like 50x more prone to static burn in than tube tv's. LCD's you don't have to worry about. I'd hate to see an image of the halo radar and shield gauge burned into your 3,000 tv.
Plasmas 3 years ago....yes they were very prone to burn in but the plasmas of today are less prone and really there is no worry. They have pixel shifting, etc that keeps the screen moving while you cant even see it. Also a good brand name plasma like pioneer, panasonic, samsung, etc are also less prone to say a generic off brand.
Video games dont realy do much to them anymore, unless maybe you play for 12 hr straight or something. Irritation is more likely to occur and just watch a dvd with a good contrast of colors with no static images and the IR will go away. You just have to be smart and dont leave a game paused for a long time or something. As most game systems and tv's are built with screen savers that also protect the tv.
I did a lot of research prior to buying a tv.......I do agree the LCD is def. good for a constant gamer that does nothing but play video games day in and day out. But for the average video gamer like myself I have nothing to worry about and you can bet I will be playing plenty of games on my tv.
Early review of the EVO X.

That is awesome, what brand, specs and etc?
I bought a 50" Samsung 1080P DLP back in may, and i still love this TV. I have the LED bulb as well instead of your standard, so it doesn't get too hot and the colors are great.
Wish i had the money though for a 50" LCD, that would have been ideal.
