local Pittsburgh Meet
Just figure I would spread my search. Figure there has to be atleast 1 place that sells it.
Negative. They are grants. Kinda like scholarships, but no performance required.
I pay for my rent/books and partial tuition each semester before the semester starts... and then the money i get is ALL mine rather than paying for things most would not have already like i stated.
so in reality, i pay for things up front, and when i get my checks, its like a refund for what i already spent. Kinda like income tax time 3 times a year
Edit: All schools are different. My girlfriend is graduating in like 3 days, and has to choose which school she wants to get her PhD at ( from a few she was accepted to). The nice thing about going back for that is all the schools are offering her free tuition, free housing and $2000.00 spending money per month to go to their school. some are more, some are less.

What is her degree and what schools does she have to select from?
- Also I got "free money" every semester after my school loans went through. it was a refund check for what wasn't spent on school when it was all processed, I then used that to live on and get my books every semester. It all added up and was included on my school debt, if i was smarter then as i am now i would have taken that money and invested it each semester and probably could have paid 1/2 my school off from the interest it collected over 5 years.
Sadly i thought sweet I have free money and used it for everything.......now im paying it back each and every month of my life for the next 30 years.
BTW: Extra grant money is not given to you, once used for school remaining will be sent back to PHEAA or eventualy have to be paid back (no such thing as "free" money, all "free money" comes with a price)
PHEAA:
After satisfying the return of all required Federal student aid funds, any balance remaining in the student account from tuition, room and board, and fee adjustments will be returned to PHEAA based on the following PHEAA refund calculation:
Tuition Adjustment X PHEAA Grant = PHEAA Refund
Full-Time Tuition
The PHEAA grant refund will never exceed the amount of the PHEAA grant. The student account will not be debited to satisfy the PHEAA grant refund.

Maintain satisfactory academic progress (if prior State Grants were received).

I call b.s. - no school pays for someone to get their Phd.

Her degree that she is getting will be a doctorates in Industrial Organizational psychology.
There are a few schools she was accepted to.
the number one school (for that field in the USA)
Penn state # 3
Minnesota # 1
Michigan # 6
Under most circumstances, they would require you to teach (x amount ) of undergraduate classes as a substitute for paying tuition (which would be benificial towards learning new material and giving hands on experience to undergrads. But again, as i stated earlier, based on her credentials, they do NOT require her to do it.)
As you may know, when you do "great" in college, you rarely have to pay for the graduate level.
As for the comment on free money, you still are not getting the point. I am not and will not be paying it back. Its FEDERAL GRANTS.
Tuition technically for my school costs $18,900 per year after room/board and other costs.
It obviously does not cost that, maybe like $13,000 total. I get approved for that amount, and then the state GIVES me the remaining $5,900 to meet the amount not knowing that i will not be living on campus or giving me the choice technically , and i will be paying $200 per book rather then getting most on AMAZON for $20/60 per book. food is also outrageous according to schools, and i do not pay $2500 in 3 months on food.
PELL GRANTS and Other grants are given to you if you qualify based on your income. I am an independent and do not have a large income. Therefore i receive lots of free money from the state.
So to answer your question, i DO get refund checks, but for like $200 dollars etc etc from my loans. Also i only take out loans that are federal credited, rather than small local ones from banks like citi or chase finacial etc etc, so i can claim them on my taxes.. All the interest you get back
Believe me, I am not as dumb as I may sound on EVOm

Believe me, I am not as dumb as I may sound on EVOmI know federal grants are free money but you were claiming you get to keep all this free money that is now down to like 200.00 and are from your federal loans. The other post you mention PHEAA, now you saying Pell.....I doubt you can get more than 1 federal grant a semester. Each post seemed to have a different story so its hard to know what is what.
But hey whatever is working for you.....

I am graduating soon myself, and am not sure if i will be going back to get my masters. Probably not because i am burnt out of school.
Off to corporate world. Off to corporate world.
and what's this jameson stuff, whiskey?
I got a full ride through graduate school. The real golden plate package. 100% tuition plus monthly stipend as they call it.
Looks like they really upped the amount they're offering students at state schools. Tuition/Books/Housing and 2k a month.
Wow.

I lasted 5 years got the "BS" degree and moved onto making money because I was extremely burnt out, I don't think I could do the school thing anymore even though the company i work for would pay my tuition if I am expanding my education to help in the work place. But for me i enjoy the free time and evenings to do whatever I please and homework is not an option

Next topic: Politics and the mustang vs dynojet dyno debate (its been awhile).....GO!
This is evom p. burgh thread - we have to argue about something or it gets lame!!

Sorry, I am just disgusted at this garbage, I worked my but off through college... graduating *** laude for math and magna *** laude for engr and paid my way thru... PHEAA gave me a grant $1500 a semester woohoo! that paid for like 2 credits. Now that I am back in for my masters I am getting my employer to pay for it and guess what they are taxing me on the tuition reimbursement.... Gotta love government My attempt to get back on topic:
So what BOV should I get?
Should I put a hitch on my evo?
Wait till you start earning money. I paid back for more than 30% of what I earned last year. On top of that I got taxed on the dividends from my investments. I'm now getting taxed because I'm buying more stocks this fall. You just can't f1cking win. Now I'm going to be paying for an Escalade for everybody in the "hood". The same losers that break into my car causing me to pay $1300 more than I should have to per year. In a couple weeks I'll be paying taxes so that someone can take away my constitutional rights to own a firearm. My best bet would be to research my family tree and apply for minority status, knock up a few b1tches, and apply for welfare. The I'd be set while all you hard workers pay for my evo mods.
