Looking into an evo..

Hey everyone, just figured I'd give a little introduction. My name is Joe, I'm from MA, and I currently drive a '98 Dodge Neon R/T. I've owned the car for about 5 years now, and it's my baby. It made 202whp/200wtq (gotta love nitrous )It stays stored during the winters, and doesn't get driven during the rain, etc. However, I think that it's time to get out of the child stage. Here's a couple of pics (in case anyone has seen it)

I was initially trying to find a 1g DSM but with many of the issues that they have, along with being even older than my current car, i decided that I'm going to look into buying an EVO (pending the sale of my car - if anyone wants to buy it let me know!). I've heard that there are issues with the t-case on the 03s, but no other real big issues besides upgrading the clutch. I'm looking to find a white one, but it seems as if there aren't a lot of local ones (as close to non-modified as possible).

Any other issues that I should be concerned with? Thanks!

Depends on how much you want to spend! If you get the 05 you get ACD (Active center diff), limited slips, yadda yadda. Shoot a pricerange and we can point you in the right direction.

Nope thats pretty much it. If you dont beat on your car then youll probably never have any issues with your t/case. Once you start moding you cant stop! From what i here 04/05 t/case are stronger but i have a buddy with an 03 that has launched his car ALOT and hes still on stock transfer case. Good luck and post up soem pictures when you get it.

I'm looking to spend low 20's (20-22k) on a white one with little to no mods.

The only time I'd even be launching this car would be at the track... I'm pretty careful about the way that I drive my cars. If anyone knows of a white one specifically around that range (give or take a few grand) let me know! Thanks!

my buddy bought his 05 white RS for 24,500 new. White is pretty tough to find. I would just call around the mitsu dealers and see what they have for left over 05 or used 03.04.05's.

The only one in white that I have found was an '06 for 34k. Wayyy too much money for my blood right now. If anyone knows of someone selling a white '03/'04, please let me know! These cars seem to be wicked hard to find.

Autobon, where did your friend buy his evo?

Also, where can i find a breakdown of the differences between the models (VIII, MR, RS?) Thanks again!

we both bought or evos at herb connolly but they now changed to hundai. Umm there 4 different types of evos the "gsr" which is a regular evo with power windows, locks, and radio most of the time comes with the wing and is 5 speed also 05 gsr do not have HIDS and fog lights (03/04 do) . Then there is the SSL , which stands for sun, sound and leather package. Which comes with sun roof, leather seats, MUCH better speakers and a sub also on 05 they come with hids and fogs lights. Then there is the RS comes with no radio, no power windows, no power locks, aluminum roof, no abs, no wing, no HIDS, no Fog lights. The car is extremely light weight, and is the "race" version of the evo. Everything in the RS is ready with wire hooks if you do want to put in a radio. If i could do it over again i think i would get an RS. Then there is the MR. This is the "limited edition" 6 SPEED, aluminum roof, power everything, HIDS AND FOGS, umm BBS light weight wheels. Umm i think thats it, Anyone please chime in if i missed something. I would do a search inthis section of the forum for dealerships. You should be able to find what your looking for. Also every forum your on there's always gunna be *******s.

Thanks, I'd definitely be interested in both of them if either of you have either the links or their screen name/PM's.

Anyways, I'm in Ireland right now so I don't have a lot of time to be online, but hopefully when I come back to the states I will be doing some full-fledge car hunting!

C-ya.
