Anybody ever get a window tint ticket?
My friend got on in CT. He had to go to the DMV to get it inspected. They told him to go get them removed. Then he had to come back and get it inspected again before the date on the ticket or his registration would be suspended. The legal tint in CT is 35%. Just get that and save yourself the hassle.
The state police used to be real big about issuing tickets for it while patrolling Hampton Beach in NH. We can't tint the front windows or the windshiled, and the rears are fairly restricted as to % as well.

....all they said was for me to put a plate on the front, but I had a note saying I lost my front plate and had the copy of the form the state issues when you re-order plates that may be stolen or missing. Worked great and went on my merry way Trending Topics

BTW mine measured 22% on his meter and I asked for 35% when I had them done. I thought they seemed dark!
Yep - driving in PA (the car's registered in NY). The PA troopers I ran into were dicks, arguing that no matter how legal my car was in NY that it wasn't legal in PA (I sent a letter to the PA Tourism people and let them know how welcomed I was made to feel), but they didn't give me a ticket. PA used to have some ridiculous tint law that only allowed tinting of about 3" around the border of a window - you weren't allowed to tint the entire window, just a small band around the edges. Think how dopey that would look. I saw it on a poster in a Ford garage while waiting with my dad to pick up his car, way back when I was probably in my early teens. I'd love to know if it changed since then or not.
Never got hassled at all in NY, but I heard stories of one guy being forced to peel off his tint right there while the trooper had him pulled over. The few times I got stopped, I always made sure to put the windows down as a courtesy to the officer - it seemed to work. I never went darker than 35%. I didn't get a chance to put the windows down for the PA troopers because they pulled up behind my car in my grandmother's driveway as my wife and I were greeting all our relatives and were already out of the car.
