Do not touch the sensor. CRC makes a MAF cleaner. It is in an aerosol can. I am pretty sure it is just non-chlorinated brake cleaner but if you can find the MAF specific cleaner use that. You can usually find it at autozone or advanced auto. You have to take off the airbox, which isnt hard, and then spray it down a bit.
nice work, did you dyno previous numbers to compare?
Yea Tim, we'd be down..she has only gone once...but I got all new gear and a new board last year and went about 20 times. So I'm definitely down for where/whenever...we went as early as the second weekend in december last year, and if you remember there was NO snow anywhere! We went to sunday river for one run down a crappy *** trail, then went to killington the next weekend after where we had a bit more success. Just let me know when and where and I'm down!

Sounds good. We may make this for after the holidays, like late Junuary. I just looked at my schedule from now til x-mas....holy heck
But I will get this organized....and when I start pricing out places, I will post up the prices per person at a few different places. We'll all discuss it and go from there.I should be getting my parts back from the body shop today (fingers crossed) Hopefully I can put it all back together tonight and drive it. Been a week now, and I am having withdrawals

Its not non-chlorinated brake clean...I have that stuff here as well. We tried it on MAF sensors a while ago on a problem car
But seriously, I use this stuff at every oil change. It does work awesome. Helps with AFR more than you know

. The non-chlorinated brake cleaner leaves a residue on the sensor. Causing a coating to form when it dries, and it actually made the sensor react worse and read AFR's more inaccurately. Car skipped/sputtered. Ordered a can of the MAF sleaner and we fixed it without having to replace the sensor. The CRC stuff works awesome! The part number is CRC#05110, I stock it here at work. Funny...on the label it says "Proven to gain 4-10 HP at the wheels!"

yeah i wasnt sure if it was the same as brake clean. That is good to know though. I have used brake clean on other sensors in a pinch but i also recommend the MAF cleaner. I am sure the power increase is using it on a dirty MAF which should net about that much since the MAF is so essential in proper fueling.
The only time this cleaner is "noticable" is when the car has high mileage and never been cleaned, or those who live in the sticks on nothing but dirt roads. I have been religious with using it since I have had my car 3/2004, so I just see it as routine maintanence.
On another note, I need to order some internals for my stock turbo. Where should I start? DSG?I need an impeller shaft and wheel, seals and bushings. Thats what is bent on the stock turbo. Hense why I got the 6.5 TME w/10.5....Turc, you got me wanting to tackle what you just did for your IX...bastid

Tim i would recommend sending the whole turbo to deadbolt. My roomate has gotten a couple of turbos from them for his suby. Their work is top notch and prices are usually lower then places like FP. They have a really nice balancing machine too. DSG would just charge you money to send it out to someone else. If you send deadbolt the turbo they can do a a full refresh. I would personally just buy a used 9 turbo, send it to deadbolt and have them put the green wheel in
But that is me.

yeah all the FP green turbo is is a stock IX turbo with the compressor bored out with a bigger wheel. So I could send my stock turbo to deadbolt or FP and they will take the turbo apart, bore out the compressor housing, toss a new wheel on, balance it and send it back for about $1000. Deadbolt is probably less money, that is FP's price.

The stock turbo could hit a lot more then that. I believe 26 is probably dead on in the middle of its efficiency range. The problem is the stock turbo can only push something like 39lbs/min where the green can do like 49lbs/min. Basically the stock turbo is good for 375-400whp where the green is good for about 450. I personally would rather invest in cams and keep the stock turbo. I think the stock turbo, cams, exhaust would make a very happy amount of power. BUT if i HAD to send my turbo to deadbolt to get rebalanced, there is a strong change it would come back as a green.
according to what i could dispher from this thread:
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...urbo+lbs%2Fmin
The stock IX turbo flows 505CFM = ~34lbs/min where the FP green (20g) flows about 650CFM = ~44lbs/min

The stock IX turbo flows 505CFM = ~34lbs/min where the FP green (20g) flows about 650CFM = ~44lbs/min

Dex still considering selling me those wheels
Its cool if you want to keep them. I have all winter to find another set if need be.
