i'm also interested in "somehow" preserving a enkei sticker similar to stock. davids-face suggested i just apply a sticker after and go with a color that suits the mag blue. im not sure if i have any other options. dext0rs mentioned applying the sticker under the clear coat.

the other issue is that i think i should have all 4 wheels straightened/fixed before doing any powdercoating which is seriously going to hurt the $$$ aspect me thinks
Well, if they are that beat up, don't bother. He can't straighten wheels or fill curb rash. Not his profession. His refinishing will eliminate all scratches. As he blasts teh wheels to original surface, then does teh coating.

He's in the Salem/Derry NH area. He is moving to a larger shop on Route 28 Just after the Salem border in Derry. Sharing teh building with 'ChopperWorks' custom bike builders. All his info is in the site. Be patient with email time. He doesn't check it everyday But he does take his calls, and checks his voicemail Paul (myevodream) are heading there soon to get my wheels, and drop off 2 more of his. If you want, I can have you meet up with us so you can discuss your options with him.

Tim, i wouldn't say they are beat up. they are in pretty good condition but have some scratches. for the straightening i know i'd have to bring them elsewhere. im just not sure what to do. all four wheels have some weights for balancing. i know one of them "has a flat spot", but i had no vibrations when i first put the wheels on (since my alignment has gone out of whack due to the ****ttty weather)

You can get sticky weights that go on the inside of the wheel. Like i said though, if it doesnt vibrate you are fine. I would just try to find a single wheel if is a problem. there is a chance 1 new wheel will cost less then getting it fixed.

Paul, you're a newb.

Instead of weights that get jammed on teh rim, have the shop use lead tape that goes inside of the wheel. You'll never see them AND they won't spin off while you're doing super-cool-jdm-tyte-donuts.

99% of wheels need weights...if nothing else, to balance out the tire imperfections

Flat spots don't mean too much, esp if they can be balanced out...lots of rims have dents (by the way, it's a dent, not a flat spot- only tires get flat spots) and wheel balancing takes care of it.

And as for the Enkei...you just buy new vinyls and apply them...same way mitsu but those cute little things on your stock wheels....they're just vinyl stickers.

you will always need wheel weights no matter what you do. no tire is perfectly balanced, so when you install a set, you will always need to get a rebalance done. They can put stick on weights on the inside of the wheel so you don't see them, but they do have a tendency of falling off. Just ask Eric what happens when your weight falls off and gets stuck between your wheel and fancy brembo caliper.

When you say scratched up, the damage is probably not even perceivable to a normal person, so I wouldn't worry about that. Without even seeing the wheels, I'd say there is a 95% chance that powdercoating will hide it.

If the wheel is really flatspotted, then it probably wouldn't balance correctly. That's the only concern I would have. You are looking at spending money on a potentially damaged set of rims. Maybe you should bring them to a different balancing place and see what they say.

Also, your alignment should be fine unless you've been ramming the car into potholes or something like that.

Noob....

Yeah, I'd love to take a ride up there with you guys if you don't mind. It would be an easy way to know how do get there for when I bring my wheels. Would be pretty cool to check out his place and talk to him too. His prices seem pretty reasonable which is awsome seeing I can't afford a set of volk TA's.. Haha I guess this is the next best thing. When are you guys heading up?

i think my butt hurts after that jeas! with friends like this who needs enemies! haha

once i get them off maybe i'll start by bringing them to a respectable balancing shop and see what they tell me and take it from there. and i agree if one is really f'd up, buying a new rim will probably be the same as having this one fixed.

I love you paul

I just told a guy on a con call he was "drunk with grandeur". He took it as a compliment.

Paulnsx, after you left we had another Rockband Casuality. The whammy bar on my guitar actually broke!, the spring inside is wrecked...it's sort of ironic that you were having whammy issues earlier in the night.... oh well, another guitar is on its way from the world of RMA!

MyEvoDream, we may end up going to NJ this weekend to surprise my parents...next wknd we should be home. I'd be happy to give you a hand with the gauges, I will let you know what we decide....

Randy! What's up man? Good to see the car and yourself back on the road. Are you coming to dinner tonite? Let us know!
I will probably meet up at your house before hand. Maybe like 6 by the time I get home and change and everything. Is it allright if I just get a ride in an Evo? No point in driving the work truck if I don't have to

Sorry about last night again Dave...didn't know I would be bring washing machines in and out of my mom's house!

See you guys tonight!
