**PS- FYI....fill you gas tanks at the closest gas station to the lake. If you decide to play in the practice course throughout the day, you won't notice how much you will be going through. You will burn a lot while practicing. Especially seeing that your tachometer will be having its day cut out for it
I had to leave one event to go fill up so I could run my last run.**
Paul, I work with one of the veterans of the new england BMW CCA - guy has a sweet M3 that he takes to all kinds of races, including the ice race... he also rocks an M5 and co-drives a GT3 in a number of circuit races.
He was telling me today that he's not sure the race will go off this weekend with all the rain we're supposed to get. He said that they're usually too cautious and cancel race days that would have been safe.
Apparently, they drill the ice to measure thickness and check it often. Cars are given ample room to run on the course and it's very laid back...you don't have to empty your trunk and you can take passengers with you on each run.
He's even offered to take me for a timed run in his M3, which by the way won at the first ice race this year...beating a studded S4 with only blizzaks.
I think we should plan to go. if they cancel it, they we do something else, if it's on then we go run.
they do this all the time, they get plowtrucks and vans out on teh ice with no problem....you aren't going to fall through or die.

We can bring lawn chairs, blankets, and heaters if you'd like....plus, I got the DVD camcorder, stickypod, and the DSLR, as well as the waterproof 7MP panasonic with video capability (bumper cam, anyone?).
snow tires = highly recommended!! If anyone has a small portable air compressor, bring it so you can drop your tire psi to about 15psi for the events. Then refill to proper psi to head back home. Added grip trick for this
....man I wish I could go. I am sitting here remembering the fun I had there.
