Please spare yourself the pain, and DO NOT get an ACT clutch for an Evo! Will it hold the power, yes. Will you be able to shift at high RPM's, no! I have one in my car (previous owner installed it) and it locks me out of almost every gear at the track. Makes my should be high 11/low 12 second Evo run 13's Spend the extra dough and get a twin disk. If I had the money I would get an Exedy in a heart beat!

And even though a ton of DSM'rs run an ACT 2600/2900, almost all of the faster ones (11.0 and faster) have switched to a twin disk (Quartermaster or Exedy). The reason why ACT is so popular is because it holds the power, is cheap, and are (somewhat) reliable. But they do not work nearly as well in an Evo. I think the clutch disk itself is too heavy, although I am not positive if that is the reason or not. Anyways, save your self the trouble as mentioned and do it right the first time!

Dude, that would be awesome I say keep the Evo as is (if you can afford it with the MKIV of course), run the ***** out of it with the 35R (people are making some GOOD times with the HTA!) and then switch to a 42R once you max this out. One of my buddies went 10.3 in his HTA-35'd 2g Talon last week. And it has more in it! But this is all just what I would do...

I haven't looked into them for an Evo, but I think they are still just single disks, no? Do some research on it, but I think you will find that people are having the most success with twin disks. Are they more money, yes. But they are worth it!

if only i could afford a twin disk Truthfully if i had the money i would definatly do it. But unfortunatly school, bills, and giving my parents money to contribute to the household holds me back from a loottttt. I do everything on a budget because I only believe in paying cash haha

I'm seriously thinking about going with the FX200 with their lightened flywheel for my 2G DSM. I would be paying about 300 more compared to an ACT combo, but after all the horror stories I have heard, I don't trust ACT whatsoever. I don't care if they redesigned their shat or not.

Marsh, I'll have to look into Exedy. Never gave them much thought. Always viewed them as more of a knock-off vendor/manufacturer, but I may have to switch my views around.

James loves his Quartermaster on his Talon....definitely look into them as well. You could probably get away with a clutchmasters and find it is perfect for you.

Well that is good that you only pay in cash. I do the same as well, which is why it takes me so long to get new parts But I am just telling you won't like an ACT. SO even though you would be saving money, is it worth the frustration? I plan on getting a twin disk over the winter. Start saving now!
