I have been trying to install my Defi Gauge myself and I ran into problems. I installed the vacuum line and ran the wire through the fire wall w/o problems, but I have had difficulty installing the control unit. I spliced the wires from the cigarette lighter. The control units lights up when I turn the headlights on but nothing else works. Last night I got frustrated with it and accidently scratched my center console so I am wondering if anyone is in the Boston area that could give me a hand. BTW, you are on the right track but I think you missing a connection.

You need 2 power source. One for 12V constant and one for 12V when you turn on your head light. I tapped the 12V constant on the stereo wiring harness and the other 12V from the cigarette lighter.

 

Sounds like to taped into the wire that lights up the ring around the cig lighter when the headlights are on.

 

My bad. Need to clearify a bit more. The second 12V need to taped to the wire that light up the ring around the cigarette lighter.
