I just fought and beat an exhaust ticket in PA. If NJ laws are the same as PA regarding exhaust noise you will have no problem beating this in court.

basically in a nutshell what it comes down to is that the cop HAS to be trained to operate the required equipment needed to measure the dB level of your exhaust. they can't just say "its too loud" and write you a ticket. If they didn't use the correct sound meter and weren't trained to do so there is no case. Like I said this is PA law, not sure about Jersey.

No BS had a matawan cop tell me my car sounded good.

3" TBE straight pipe, flames everywhere.

It also helps my bestfriend is in the Port Authority so if anything I pass my tickets to him.

I just upgraded to a RRE stealth exhaust with a HFC so I can imagine my car will be damn near stock sounding.

It's standard procedure for most states, cities and townships to always have two offers for each traffic stop. They have no way to tell if you're on the FBI list until after they check you out. And it's also for your safety - so you don't get harasses by one cop.

Get used to it.
he is 100% right, theres no way to know who the hell you are and if youre a dangerous criminal or just a punk in an evo. police ALWAYS have to have backup on car stops...except state troopers, they're badazz. plus their backup would be miles away anyway, but yea, thats the gist of it. and yes, i agree jersey cops are mostly *******s.

Ive been let go by a few New Jersey State Troopers for goin like 80-100 on I80. But local cops outside of Rahway are complete jerks especially in Linden. But most recently I got a ticket in Cranford for doing 34 in a 25..... :/

*Someone should open up a thread listing towns/cities in the tristate where the cops are douches (Of course giving good reason why) =] just a suggestion.

Try driving in NJ at 2:30 am on a Fri or Sat night. I have to switch up 3 routes home because I get pulled over for everything you can imagine. Last time cop wanted to search my car, I said nope (by the way guys you have the right to say no). Cops need probable cause to search.
