MA Inspection (Loud Exhaust)

Apparently some Corvette owners were getting rejected for loud exhausts, which according to the new regulation seen below is anything louder than stock (at the discretion of the inspector, so no meters or anything).
Goodluck guys.

The Inspection regulation states: (5) Muffler and Exhaust System. Accelerate motor to test for prevention of unnecessary noise and emission of any unreasonable amount of smoke. The exhaust system, exhaust manifold(s), exhaust pipe(s), muffler(s), and tailpipe(s), if designed to be so equipped, shall be tight and free of leaks.
System components shall be securely fastened with fasteners in place and undamaged. All motor vehicle exhaust systems shall discharge the exhaust beyond operator, passenger, and/or trunk compartment.
Unnecessary noise is herein defined as any noise which is louder than that emitted by
the vehicle when equipped with the original manufacturer's equipment.
A gas or diesel vehicle will
be rejected if, at normal operating temperature, when at idle or any constant speed, visible black or
blue exhaust emissions are evident.
If at any time you feel that an inspector failed to inspect your vehicle correctly, You have the right to challenge the Inspection and a Field Investigator will research the Inspection.

It's new to the inspectors but you can't tell me you were blindsided by this? Posts have been everywhere on the boards, including me, about people being ticketed with 2 point moving violations because of the "Modified exhaust" law. Was only time when the inspectors were going to start doing this as well.

just go to a bunch of different shops until one gives you a sticker. most wont even take your car in for a sticker unless they are willing to actually give you one. it took me 3 tries this year.

I got rejected for a loud exhaust on my inspection back in 2007 so it's been there awhile. Well, they didn't even do the inspection, just told me I wouldn't pass before they even started. This was at the dealer in Danvers, MA. But took it to a little shop and was done in about 10 minutes.

Also got pulled over for excessive acceleration on an onramp, just got a warning for that and non stock exhaust. He didn't say anything about the height though. If I remember correctly the height is measured from the front bumper crash beam or something, but that might be VA I'm thinking of. They have similarly crappy laws. I'm so glad I'm out of that crappy state.
