I was driving home and passed the same gtr I do everyday and was thinking that if shopping in the price range would I get a z06 or gtr.

Which would Chu all choose?

I think a lot of people will say GT-R for the price range.

I sway the same way. Though I would like a good rwd platform. The gtr is damn heavy too. It's like Bentley weight

Are they in the same price range though? One is like $60k and I thought the GTR was still $80k range.

Having already owned a z06 I would take a GTR for sure.

They're about the same price. Base GT-R is 89k. 2012 Z06 starts at $75. Porsche 911 and Cayman is about the same price range.

BTW, Z06 Centennial Edition is cakes!

I was saying I'd like a good rwd platform. I wasn't saying anything bad about the gtr. The gtr also seems like its got a ton of creature comforts. It's sort of a waste if you just want a track car out of it.

^^^If you look if what the most popular time attack car of the last 2 years, its has been the GTR. All of the Japanese time attack shops are running GTRs...even AMS has taken a note of that. So maybe it is a good track car...

...drive GTR, don't even think of creature comforts. For a car that weights 3800lbs, you really really don't notice the weight. Can't fathom what Z06 feels like with 500lbs less...

The label on the door jamb of the gtr says like 4484 lbs for weight.

They need to make a gtr rs or something for those wanting a track car.

I never said it wasn't a good track car. It has a lot of luxury items in it.

I bought a base gsr and I'm glad I didn't worry about all the other options since I don't care about the ones I have now.

Price wise, Z06>GT-R. An '05-06 Z06 with some miles can be had for $35k-$40k. The upkeep on the Chevy is certainly much more managable as well.

If money was not as issue, GT-R all day long.

Marc, with all due respect the C6 Z06 was really leaps and bounds beyond the C5 Z06. Don't get me wrong the C5 Z06 was/is a fantastic platform, GM just really took that car to another level in 2005 with the 505hp Z06.

I think that a C6 Z06 could quite possibly be my next fun car.
