PCD: 2013-2014 Till We Break It Edition
Agree with Thai but if you are swapping coilovers it would be prudent to check front and rear of car. Plus if you are getting coilovers and do adjust height of car it will change everything. You need to get car on level surface (bubble level floor), string box the car to set the rear toe, front toe is easy with toe plates. Camber is easy on front, just the rear of Evo's is a real challenge to get it right. Every little adjustment on rear effects something. You just need to be patient and take your time. I use (2) 8' poles zip tied to front and rear of car (rear I use plexiglass attached to license plate holder to attach pole to car). Length of poles should match, mark center of each pole and match to center of car. String should be measured from outside of pole to make sure you have it placed correctly.
So:
1. Level your floor (youtube bubble level floor to see how)
2. Need to put weight in front seat to simulate you sitting in car
3. Secure steering wheel in place (I used tie down straps to hold wheel in place
4. Set ride height of car
5. Do front camber
6. String box car
7. Set front toe
8. Set rear toe
9. Rear camber
10. Test drive and profit!
Takes me 4-8 hours usually to get an Evo set right. The rear takes the majority of time when aligning these cars IMO

Wasn't really try to instruct for PCA as I think/thought it might be harder for me to get into, I certainly wouldn't have a problem with doing that.
Weekend notes: Was at Lightning on Sunday and Thunderbolt Monday...awesome weather both days...sunny and 42dF on Sunday...38dF, overcast with occasional snow then rain after 3PM on Monday. Car ran great (until it didn't, but more on that in a minute).
The 245/40-17 ZIIs are god-damned fast..two 7/10 warm up laps...then go. I ran four 20-30 minute sessions and turned consistent 1:18.3s on Lightning, not pushing too hard. Monday (on the chincaneless Thunderbolt) I did 3-30 minute sessions and was running consistent low-36s with a few 35.6-8s (including a personal best 35.51).
The ZIIs are a lot like R-comps in that they do not squeal or make any noise until you really lean on them, then they howl a bit...but take a lot to break loose...even then they are predictable...not quite the cliff you get with R-comps. I would expect the Rivals to take a bit more to come up to temp, then be faster for longer...except in the rain.
Woke up Monday at Fairfeild Inn...grab the complimentary toilettries and jump in the shower only to discover that housekeeping left me two conditioners and no shampoo...b!tches. Get to the track and while torquing lugs find a nail sticking out of my left rear tire...pulled it out and fortunately it was only into a tread block about 1cm, so no damage or leak.
In my last session on Monday, while on what I had already decided would be my last flying lap, as I was entering the octopus, I lost oil pressure...shut it down and rolled into paddock...lifters were making a bit of noise when we refired it. No clunks, booms, leaks, smoke, and not more oil than it should have had.
Had to drive the loaded trailer up to Philly and unload the E30 race car...then drive back to the track...get back there at 8:30...in the pouring rain....and the winch in the trailer dies as the car is half way up the ramp...me and my friend Ed had to push the pig the rest of the way up. Didn't get back to Tillson's until 10:30...
I won't know for sure until we get it up on the lift tomorrow night, but we are optimistic that I lost the oil pump nut (which is notorious for falling off--you E36 guys need to make sure you drop your pan and safety wire that nut in place--I'm looking at you, Carson and Marc).
Jalal, I have your box of goodies from the track...I'll get it over to Marc later this week or early next.

damn, 18's on L and 35's on TB are really good. Guess those seats made a big difference.
Did you strip the car at all? any idea what it weighs now?
edit: I do have the OPN on my list before she hits the ground again. that and the VAC oil baffle.

I posted an update to that as well. The OP said they are not as wide as originally thought, some of those tires pictured were mounts, the other weren't. You should still be fine with a 255.
3 Things:
1) I don't think I'll be able to make VIR this summer.
2) Southern VA ain't no hotter in the middle summer than it is here. Late and early summer maybe. You aren't going to South Florida.
3) I really don't know where you heard it was an 8 hour drive. No f^cking way! It take 8 hours to get to the border of SC. I'm going with 5 hours max.
