newbie from mass need help

I just recently purchased a evo 8 with some mods it has a manual boost controller and when I just went to get a sticker it failed emissions because it doesn't have a boost solenoid was wondering if I can just get a stock solenoid and plug it in will it pass ? anyone know ways around it ? thanks for your help

do u have a CEL on? because if your missing a solenoid the cel will be on. if u look at right under where the intake is on the frame rail thats where the solenoid is suppose to be. so look and see if theres any plugs not plugged in.

if theres a plug thats not plugged in then its most likely for the solenoid. u can get one and it'll solve the prob or do it internally with a rom and force that shiet

If you are missing the boost solenoid I would guess that you have more than that wrong....

Maybe I am making a bad general assumption. Knowing how these cars can be badly mistreated it would scare me to think how many gremlins could pop up based on what parts the prior owner took off....

oh I get you yeah def scary seeing it wasn't there but the car was gone through by dynotech tuning who are pretty reputable so I believe the car was done right I just don't get why they wouldn't have flashed ecu to not look for the solenoid.... I have a buddy in town with a evo 9 mr are the boost solenoids the same ? I would assume they are maybe ill plug his solenoid in and just use that to pass inspection

The boost solenoids for the 8 and 9 are not the same. OEM boost solenoid can be acquired for about 35 shipped on EvoM.

A used OEM boost solenoid should not 85 bux. Ensure you're not looking at brand new 3 port aftermarket solenoid.
