Fun Backroads for spirited drive near NYC (within 2 hours)

anyone have any good recommendations for a fun road to hit up before the traffic builds up? I like waking up early and going for some spirited drives on the weekends. Any recommendations let me know, would love to try some new tarmac out!

Go to a track. Don't drive like a dbag on the public streets and kill someone.

He just asked for a road to go for a drive, since when is that something a douchebag would do?

Harriman State park. Tiorati Brook Rd is awesome.
Also, Route 218 and Route 9W

Those are my personal favorites.

Rt. 47 from Claryville, NY to Big Indian, NY or the reverse. The drive takes you either up or down Slide Mountain (tallest lump in the Catskills) and along the Neversink River through some sweet little valleys.

If you go, look out for wildlife, rockfall, the serious hairpin turn at the bottom of Slide Mountain, and (during the summer) camp kids.

Good times.

Misread it as "sprinted" and not "spirited" lol

When I think of sprint driving I think of racing

Bear Mountain! I believe it's exit 18 on the Palisades Parkway! Try the Goat Mountain Trail! It's great!

^ awesome route starting in my area that I take to Bear Mountain. 218 is subject to closing on bad weather. the 9w route isn't bad either just more direct. This whole route has small areas to pull off for scenic shots.

I've heard of this reffered to as a mini Tail of the Dragon sometimes. I have yet to visit it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawk%27s_Nest,_New_York

This also has some nice curves, including a hair pin. https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Wall...d41.723662!3e0
Also scenic spots and more twistys as you look at the map

My personal opinion on Hawks nest, It's crap. I've been to tail of dragon 129,It's no dragon.

There are plenty of roads in Orange. you just have to know where to go.

218, tiorati, etc.

218 I know well. I've never been to the Hawks nest yet. I had a chance to go to TOTD but had to pull out cause it wasn't the smart thing to do financially. Still should have gone. But one day. Maybe lol
