Someone should organize a track event
Someone should organize a track event just for EVO's like they have in the west coast (EOC) where we have pro drivers teaching us how to really squeeze out the best in our cars.
track event is EVERYWHERE if you know where to look.....
I'll going to Watkins Glen with NASA in Sept.....feel free to join if interest

Well, it's pretty simple, get the Evo-NY Crew to expand and add a Evo-East Coast section. With a <300 Evo member count we could make this possible. But, you need to have instructors on hand and track rentals are expensive, two problems.
Hey Jimbo, if you can make it happen, I'm all in. I just don't see there will be 200 or more evo sign up. I will be the first one to register though. Maybe try this, there will be an autox at NASA on the 22nd of this month, I try to post up here and NY-Evo and see how many people will acturally show up.
I will contact the head of the EOC and find out the required steps in order to make this happen. From what I have read from them it doesn't require that many people for this. In fact they make it like a minimum of 40 cars per event in order to insure enough track time for every driver.
it will be great to have an Evo only Track day....just like the NSX club or ITR Expo
info about ITRExpo...

I attended both ITRExpo 2 and 3, and I can tell you it takes a LOT of work to organize an track event like that. Track rental can cost you from 25K to 40K depends on which track you go to. Some more famous track (like LimeRock, Mid-Ohio, VIR ) is almost impossible for a small group to afford.
you also need to have instructors for every Beginner and Intermediate student.....i can see most Evo owner will be beginner or have limit track experience. You also need a VERY Experience Instructor to host a classroom session for those 2 group in order to teach the student some basic idea about track driving........etc
like kevo said....I will sign up the event in a heart beat

I was at the ITR Expo 4, it was awesome (minus blowing my engine). It is very expensive and requires a substantial number of entrants, and probably 30% non-evo entrants to get enough people. Beaver-run is probably one of the more most cost effective road courses. There are only so many -free- instructors in the Evo community, so that will cost also. So, first and foremost, and national Evo east-coast club that would automatically enter Evo-Ny + Evo-DC + anyone else, that way mobilizing would be easier. Perhaps we could get a track day in one of the winter months.
And if anyone is interested, we have a great Autocross here in central PA. You can have to drivers and get 20 runs in. It's a very large course and very fast, located on a airport runway. It's a great way to get started racing, and costs are substiantially less than a roadcourse to get started and there's little to no risk. There's one Evo (mine) and one STi.

My partner and I started the EOC because we were frustrated with the typical "open track day" where you are just stuck behind a bunch of hondas etc. That, coupled with a lack of affordable quality instruction led to the idea. Besides, these cars are really fast stock and if you set them up, they just catch everything.
We use instructors who are career professional drivers for factory teams etc. and keep it to 30- 40 cars. You end up with 3-4 regular track days worth of clean laps and seeing 30 evos on the track is a site to behold:

If someone is serious about setting this up, pm me. We would be open to giving some space on the site for other chapters to be setup. We are not doing this for commercial reasons... Just trying to get more evos where they belong: at the track!
Good luck,
Mark McComsey
