portland audi event
wow, well run track event, two days of good weather, what else could you ask for.
before I talk about evos, I have to say something about the zo6 I got an old lady ride in. face it guys, this car has no weakness. it is straight up super. the tires were sticky and this guy could haul booty around that track. brakes, power and road holding!
had a great time in my evo, the one thing that chilled the event for me was a spin on the warm up lap of the first session. I wasn't pushing the edge or anything , just wasn't paying enough attention maybe, on what might have been a cool damp track and cold tires. So that made me a little conservative, took me a long time to get over.
Audi makes a good looking car, lots of really fine audis there. They are quick and can handle well.
Three other evo s showed up, two of which were a father son team. They were deep into a contest of quickness, wouldn't even give me a ride along (for the weight ) The dad had an RS the kid an 03. maybe they will chime in(?)
I'm sure Kyle will post his fun too.

They are a good group, even helped me tow my car home.... :/
I had an interesting day, with a spin in the morning as well....actually two. Not how I typically drive. I changed my sway bar setup to be more aggressive but it made the car way too tail happy. After that session I setup the car better and had a good 3-4 sessions in before my front diff fill plug backed out and dumped fluid everywhere. There was still enough fluid in the diff to keep it from making any unusual sounds, but I could not find a fill plug in Portland late on a Sunday afternoon. One of the organizers had a trailer and was nice enough to give me a lift home since it was on the way.
I took some video, I'll sort through and post it a bit later.

ouch ! glad your car isn't damaged. my last time at the track (PR), one of my buddies with an RSX-S had to be towed home with a severely messed up suspension after a spin on turn 6.
I was able to drive to the repair shop, (Matrix Integrated) but I lost a turbo on day one. Really sucks since I just put it in there last November. Good luck to anyone else working on their cars after this weekend.

one of the pdx tuning guys that i am good freinds with dropped by a few spy photos of two red evos, and a silver one (1 red was quite possibly a RS) just to terrorize the fact that i couldnt make it. anyway, looks like you guys were having a blast, i hope that i can join you all soon.

I heard about that, totally sux. Time for some K04's, or maybe some hybrid turbos from Imolavirus on the PNW AW board?

yeah, the father son team, red RS for the pop, red o3 for the kid.( no, I wouldn't complain either, he couldn't be eighteen yet). the dad could push his evo pretty good, but it took a number of laps before there was much of a lead.
flatTire sorry to hear that, thanks for introducing yourself to the grey haired guy with the filthy evo.

yeah flat tire that is horrible. sorry about your luck, but with it already at what seems to be the best shop around i am sure it will be on the road again soon. only question is how much lighter will your wallet be? j/k. good luck.
If it was later in the afternoon, then it was probably after I broke down.
I captured some video last night of the event, I'll try to post it up tonight.

So Kyle, I take it you were the silver one I kept waiting to watch but never put the hood down.
Did that Elise ever run? I would have liked to see that.
