Drift Fest Returns

Yes that's right everyone, back by popular demand. Drift Fest is returning to Evergreen Speedway, in Monroe, Washington. September 24th, 2005 we have decided to make things Bigger and Better. We will have more cars entered in the Car Show, professional drivers coming to demonstrate drifting at the level most of our local guys are trying to reach. We will have DJ OG ONE coming in to DJ for most of the night along with two musical groups to be announced later. Rain or Shine Umbrella girl contest. If all that wasn't enough we will have tons of stuff to raffle and give away, from shirts and hats to car care and car parts. Everyone come out and have a good time and leave knowing you got the best drift experience the NW has to offer.

When it says session, is it referring to a training session? If so, what is covered? Is it a classroom setting or do I get an instructor in my car? I'm not looking to be a competitive drifter, but I'd love to add the ability to my arsenal.

Thanks,
Sam

There are two sessions friday. first session is from about 8am to 2pm. second session is from 3pm to 10pm. We will have instructors there that will ride in your vehicle with you. (inside info)- Pro's may be doing some instruction on both days also-(explain below) But No class room stuff. You can explain to the instructor "hey I know nothing" so they will start having you drive and instruct you on basics. Then as you get the hang of it they will give pointers on what you are doing wrong/right what you can do better and so on. Friday will be the better day for very beginer stuff. Also you dont have to have same instructor, you can have one ride with you for awhile and then another. some may have different opinions and different ways to talk and explain.

Two sessions on saturday. first session same time as Friday but track will be set up a little more technical. intermediate/advanced. Less instructors available but will be there to ride with and give pointers and same as Friday but since limited instors they may not be able to ride with you all day.

Second session is invite only- For Pro's and some of the advanced local drivers. also competition later in the day.

Ok for inside info. We got a call Friday from one pro asking if he could come in on friday, possibly spin around track once or twice but wants to watch some of the new up coming drifters also to get an idea of how many people are actually drifting in the NW corner of the world. Said he may even want to do some instructions if thats OK. Then yesterday we get a call from another Pro who is local to the NW and specifically asked if he can make it here by Friday if its OK to do some instruction. Loves the fact the NW drift scene is growing. So of course we said YES. Not sure if they will actually be there or if they are going to use the day to shop in Seattle but they will be in town.

Very cool, thanks for the reply. I might have to carve some time out of my schedule for this.

I'd like to go and have some instructional training. Only problem is I need a new suspension on my E28. It's pretty much shot.

Drift Fest is working with NW Harvest to help hunger relief here in the NW. Anyone that brings in 2 items from the list below will receive $5 off gate admission. That means instead of $20 at the door you pay only $15 with two items from the list below. This offer is not good for those who purchase tickets in advance for $10 @ www.xpressentry.com

We will have donation boxes also available if you are not interested in attending this event but would just like to donate. After the event I am taking all contributions to the downtown wherehouse. Don't miss this opportunity to help out other NW families.

Northwest Harvest can use any non-perishable food or monetary donations. We do buy rice & beans in bulk, so we encourage you to donate other items.

General Food Items:
Pasta
Peanut Butter
Canned Fruits & Vegetables
Hot & Cold Cereal
Tuna Fish
Spices & Seasonings
Salad Oil

Whole Meals:
Spaghetti-O's
Stews
Meat & Gravy
Pork & Beans
Soup
Raisins, small boxes
Ramen Noodles

Infant and Baby Foods:
Baby Formula
Canned Milk
Powdered Milk
Jars of Baby Food
Infant Cereal

I'm kind of interested in the training sessions, is there an option to drive a car other than my own?

I have had many (many) emails about this. I am working on possibly getting a vehicle that everyone can drive around and trash on at the events. I wont have it by the next drift fest (sept. 24th) but maybe for 2006. i also have to work with insurance so I dont get a fat lawsuit because someone wrecked my car while drifting it.

We will have ride alongs available at different points in the day. (bring your own helmet)

Due to issues of double booking on our days we had contracted we have been informed today by the speedway that the event is being required to be moved till October 23rd 2005.

We apologize about the inconvenience and had been working to resolve this issue to no avail. All Drift registration and Show registrations along with tickets will be honored on this day. If you have any question feel free to contact me at Zane@urbanlifeproductions.com . Event info for the October 23rd date should be up by September 21st. Once again we apologize for the issues this may cause you.

Sorry Gang we had no other option given to us.

This actually makes me happy. There was no way I could have made the event tomorrow but I might be able to do 10/23! I still want to do a training session, will they be available on the new date?

Thanks,
Sam

Since we are forced to cram everything into one day there will not be a day set aside to beginners but we will have instructors. I have been searching for people who are familiar with AWD Drifting but not having a lot of luck. My instructors have said they can teach you the basics but an AWD drift is going to be harder. (more skill involved to an extent)

In anticipation of NW weather on October 23rd. a few changes have been made. For beginners in case it rains car will be parked under the grandstands in area where concessions are. There will be a few special rules for cars under there. Also a Bikini contest is doubtful but if the girls want to still sign up it will probably be more enjoyable. We are having a raffle for a chance to will tons of great stuff like Gift Cards, Discount certificates, Springs, Clothes, and much more. The Grandstands are covered so don't let the rain keep you from coming out and watching the best drifting the NW has to offer, plus Rain could make things more entertaining to watch.
