if u cant find a powdercoating shop, standard paint works too, i had mine done last year, no chips, car has had 25k put on it and driven cross country, its been in all sorts of driving conditions also. the wear and tear lvl just depends on how good the painter is.

sounds sweet... i'll have to watch out for the shop uh.
powdercoat is pretty cheep, way durable and does dark colors really well... if you find a place that will do the rims, let me know, maybe we can get a bunch of us together and get them all done at the same time

I have a powder coater at my house. I don't have a media blaster though, but I think a chemical stripper would work best on wheels. Aircraft paint remover is what you would need. My oven is only large enough for one wheel at a time, so it would take me a little while to do a set of wheels.

The intake and IC pipes as well as the scattershield I did in black chrome.
The valve cover was a anodize red (hard to apply but it looks awesome, really deep wet look in person)
Spark plug cover and thermostat housing in almost chrome.
Every bracket in the engine bay and all the motor mounts are a silver vein black powder.

there are many discussions on powdercoating wheels on this forum.
make sure that you use a low-temp coater.
there seems to be enough evidence that the stock rims will crack and break if you use a typical high-temp coat job. the heat does something to the forged rims.

do a search before you do the job. may want to go with paint.

if you are in the portland area then here:

for blasting there is;

Mediablasters
6332 SE 82nd Ave #B
503-772-5278

and for coating;

Portland Powder Coating
4740 SE 9412
503-236-9412

I was quoted about $300 bucks for stripping and powder coating of four 17" rims!

and it is not the forged rims that are bad to coat, it is the ones that are not forged! The RS, and GSR wheels are not forged and the MR wheels are forged!
