Don't go cold turkey! With the drugs available today this can be an almost painless transition. Go with the patch and nicotine gum at the same time (patch and gum for a month, gum only for another month). I am sure quitting the gum will be easy when i get around to doing so...

i haven't had a cig in 28 hours, i'll join you, i'm quitting too. i'm drinking white and green tea fusion as a substitute. CNN said that just 6 hours after quitting health benefits are apparent. i'm also eating organic baby leaf spinach to be healthy, i drown it in blue cheese dressing but its still probably healthier than Salsa flavored Doritos.

I was hypnotized and it worked for me. Its been over four years with out a cancer stick for me . The most important thing is you have to want to quit .....not someone wanting you to quit. The right frame of mind is 90% of the fight. Gl to you

everywhere i worked your smoke breaks were your two federal mandated breaks.. nothing extra... and i hate it..i knew people at work that did that. they'd take like 15 breaks a day to have a smoke or some stupid thing.... and never got introuble for it..... oh well moving on...

I'll try to give you a little motivation, my father has just been diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer in December. Stage three means that it has spread to other parts of the body (lymph nodes). He is currently going through chemo and radiation concurrently, and simply put, it is extremely difficult. He could not go through this if he weren't retired because he cannot sleep and cannot eat, consequently he does nothing but go for his treatments daily. He is 65 and was in excellent physical shape before the treatments. He has lost thrity pounds and is a shell of the man he once was. Here are a couple of facts that I have learned about lung cancer:

Lung cancer is the most deadly form of cancer by far because no syptoms appear until the cancer spreads.

87% of the lung cancer cases are of the non-small cell (bad) type, of those 87%, 95% of the people are or have been smokers.

I would not wish what my father is going through on anyone, nor would I want anyone to have to deal with what I'm going through, so please for the ones that love you quit immediately.

I wish you the best of luck, and keep reaching for the support that is neccessary to quit.

Sincerely,

Jim
