Any NW shops that specialize in the 4G63...
Hey guys! I am new around here. I am getting ready to do a 2.3 stroker and was wondering are there any shops around here (anywhere in WA or Portland) that you would recommend to do the work? I am looking for AMS or Buschur type experienced shops. Someone that has done a few 4G63 rebuilds/strokes and can do them in their sleep. No guessing, no learning on the fly... LOTS OF EXPERIENCE!
Intially the car was going to go either to AMS or Buschur but i rather do most of the work myself (all except the stroking). I will be pulling the motor myself and am just looking for a shop that can do the work confidently. If there's not a shop that i'll be comfortable with, i guess i'll just have to ship the motor back east. Well unless i can find a good shop in Ca. or something (that's where i'll look next if there isn't any here...
BTW i did do a search and found the thread that posted performance shops up here but they all seem to be "import" tuner shops for all imports. I'm looking for a "specialty shop" that mostly works on Evos/DSM...
Anyway any info would be much appreciated!

Englishracing in Washougal would be my choice. Lucas has built a few strokers, and hes knows everything there is to know about dsms. englishracing.net
If youve been to PIR youve prolly seen his Black 1g running high 10s or his green galant running high 11s.
Another shop that has experience with dsm and strokers would be PINA in the seattle area. Andre knows alot and is a good guy. Im not sure of the website or phone # on pina however.

I'll let Nick Drake speak for himself, but I'd go to him to do up my 2.4l when I'm ready. If you're looking for a shop-shop like AMS or Buschur, then I'd call Mike @ RRE (Raod Race Engineering).
Edit* I forgot Lucas - Jim got it though HA!! Also fogot to mention Lowe in Canada! He helped Shawn J build his 2.4l and that bad boy looks awesome! That's if Shawn gets into his new home and puts Humpty Dumpty back together again.....inside joke.

Thanks for the info.
I looked at both websites and Pina looks good but that doesn't say much.
I tried calling both but got recordings.
Anyway, any others? And who is Nick? What company does he work/own?

Is RRE really that good? I just haven't heard much about them... well at least for motor work.

Lucas and Andrea and Nick are all DSM gods of the NW, either way you go with them youll be more then pleased.

)getting machined currently, and an Evo 2.3 will be started as soon as I have time to pull the engine that's in the car now.I also have access to a engine dyno for customers, it runs $600 a day to rent it out.

I wouldn't let anyone but Nick Drake rebuild a motor for me in the NW. I've known the douchebag for 7 years now and hes so **** about everything none of his motors have ever failed. Hes built every style of 4G63 race motor under the sun.
