I think 40 cold is going to be too much, try starting around 32-35 cold and see what you like.

Question tire pressure

I'm not familiar with how the Falken's perform on the track, I usually run the ra1's, they seem to perform best about 40-41 psi hot @ PR with the evo. That means starting with a lower pressure on the tires that heat up the most, ie; the right front @ PR.
A starting pressure of 40 seems high, that would have you acheiving pressures of about 45 psi hot if they heat up 5 degrees or so. A general rule of thumb is about 3-5 psi higher than normal, so if you run 32 on the street then maybe try 35-37 cold @ the track and keep an eye on the shoulder wear using shoe polish, the wear should come down to the top of the arrows on your sidewall. Adjust accordingly after each lapping session. It's usually easiest to bleed off air rather than add.
The best way is to use a probe type pyrometer to ensure you're acheiving ideal temps across the tire. Have fun

I usually set it to ~10 psi below the max rated tire pressure, 40 psi sounds like a good place to start.

I normally start ~25psi and adjust as necessary as all 4 corners don't heat up at the same rate.

I use a tire pyrometer (probe style), just did a track day on Thursday and for my setup I started with 32 psi cold and was nearly perfect on tire temps. Just need some slight camber adjustments to get it completely even.

Kyle, the coilovers OK? hope so. you're going to be tough to beat, guess I'll just watch you pull away.

Bruce,

Coilovers are working awesome! Only problem is that I haven't had it aligned yet. I went out on Thursday to PR and had an issue with my front splitter, but other than that everything was working pretty freaking good. Need to order new pads again too. I also haven't gotten confirmation yet on the IRDC day. Registration sent in, I also sent an email before then to try and confirm a spot.

yip - there's one right at the freeway exit that leads to the track, and there's another about 10 min away that has 100 unleaded - pricey but good insurance against detonation.

you sure about the location of that gas station?

iirc, gas is about 5 minutes away to the north or northeast. that is north if 18 is really going east there.

Yeah, You have to go one exit east or west on 18 to get 76, but no more than 10 minutes out.
