Tradin in Evo for GT-R 33

I found a GT-R 33 for sale for 2,600 us dollars in japan. If I end up buying this car and paying for all the shipping and stuff to get it here, I'll probably be selling my car. Although I haven't gotten in contact with them and my japanese is a bit shakey, I have some friends who speak japanese who might be able to help me if the first contact comes with lack of understanding.
If this doesn't go through because its gets sold before I can sink my teeth into it or what, I'll end up keeping my Evo. Don't get me wrong, I wana keep my Evo and the Skyline.
I'll be selling the CF hood and fenders and any other parts that can come out without sacraficing the functuality of the vehicle if the deal comes through. Maybe.. I donno should I keep the evo and the skyline or just keep the latter?

I'll let Ryan drive it first if we go to a bar and plays Designated Driver.

Also anyone have any ideas on how or where to get it shipped?

from what i have heard it is illegal to import a nissan skyline of any shape or form into the united states anymore and for 2,600 USD it just seems way too good to be true

I donno about that, or they would probably start impounding the cars that are already here.. I don't believe in rumors and I also found an RX-7 Turbo for $3700.. guy prolly doesn't know what he has, happens a few times. I heard of a guy who bought a skyline for 12k sitting in a lot in the middle of no where and the dealer was sellin it as a sentra coupe or somethin.

I'm pretty sure you can still have them imported but the price doesn't seem right. For $2600 U.S I think you are gonna get stroked.

i called the department of transportation about registering my skyline and that is what the head guy on imported cars told me. he told me that the only skylines that are able to be registered here are 1996 or newer R33 after all that motorex fiasco they got really strict . but if you decide to buy it good luck with it

Well I'm doing my research. I can always have my buddy's friend who's stationed in Japan go look at it for me, then I might risk the chance of him buying it. If its a hoax then I won't cry over spilt milk, if its a real deal then I'm all for it. Prolly to the average Japanese person, its prolly just an older car that would be sitting on the used car lot. If it needs repairs I'm sure I can find a way to repair most of the damages unless its totalled. I'm trying to stay positive about this find..

Cides if I do manage to get it here, I'll prolly let any of yall drive it, long as I'm in passanger seat =P

Oh Scott, I donno what to tell ya man, I didn't make up the story I just heard it.

My buddy has been going through this for months. Bought a Nismo R33 from Japan and paid this company like 25k to import it. It never came to fruition. It got stopped in Canada I believe during the importing process. My buddy has been trying to get this finished since October of last year. He finally ended up just asking for his money back. So good luck.

More expensive then the GT-R Proto will be.. current estimate is 70k which it might drop.. I'll buy a proto or a viper before I burn 109k on that ...

well, seeing as the r-33 came in like 3 different models, one with the rb20det, rb25det, and the rb26 dett, you should really look at whether it is a skyline stock or a skyline gt-s or a skyline gt-r - skyline is the series name, but the one you want to look for is the GT-R - thats the one that comes with the RB-26dett... thats still a very very expensive car over there... in the 2000 dollar range sounds like it would be slightly broken or its been salvaged...
