no problems with underhood temps so far, but then of course it's not exactly warm outside either; so won't know for sure until next summer I guess. Also, to be fair the guys at Works did a great job installing everything considering the time constraints they had to work with - it's pretty much a given that no major build is ever perfect out of the box, there's always something that needs tweaking afterwards!

That manifold is absolutely beautiful. I've been saving up my pennies since I first saw a Full Race manifold many many years ago for a B18C motor. Someday very soon, I too will have a FR manifold.

holy thread revival batman ... the openings actually matched the engine very well, they just look small in comparison because the soot on the other pieces (engine block, MR header) makes the holes look bigger. There's probably something to be had from porting the FR header though, but I was too impatient to try that route. If I ever have to take it off to pass emissions, I'll probably port it and ceramic coat (inside only so it stays pretty) it before putting it back on.

Thanks for the information and the excellent pictures! Just noticed its from 2006 - oh well, still useful to those of us who haven't seen this thread before.

new gasket for the engine side made by "Stone" - I had never heard of the brand before, but it said "made in Japan" on the box and it was clearly a high quality piece.

lmao

Forgot how nice a piece that was. Just couldn't justify the cost for my marginal goals .

Update on the mystery battery short & crossed/stuck flange bolt on this install: recently my turbo failed with blown seals, and after putting all the pieces of information together and doing some close up inspection, I now know why: when WORKS installed the White Rabbit 9 in sept 06, they didn't use the Evo 8 specific install kit (the WR9 has the 9 compressor housing). As a result the compressor outlet pipe has no clearance from the starter motor. Looking back, this is also why it once shorted out & destroyed my battery, and why the flange bolt had seized (it must have been putting enough force on the flange to cause cold welding or thread deformation). This was probably also the reason the Megan header warped and started to leak.

Over time, the outlet pipe knocking against the starter whenever the engine moved caused a lot of stress on all parts of the turbo assembly (header flange, and the seals of the compressor housing), so that they eventually failed. The compressor pipe makes a great lever, so the force of it being knocked against the starter is amplified considerably at the location of the turbo.

The guys at WORKS are being complete ********* about this too; it took me three weeks of nagging them before I got a response from Pete, and then it was "too bad, not our problem, good luck with that". He argues that the WORKS "factory-matched warranty" applies only to parts manufactured by WORKS, not other parts sold by them (or their installation work). FP only covers their turbos for a year, and to be honest I'd feel bad making them cover for WORKS doing a fubar'ed install anyway.

For now I'll limp along until I've scraped the cash for a rebuild; I might wait until I got enough for a Green upgrade too (only difference between the WR9 and the green is the bigger turbine wheel). I will definitely not be asking WORKS to install anything on my car again though, that's for sure ...

Full Race sell them for a grand but better deals can be had if you talk to one of the Honda vendors.
