front license plate mount
so i've come across a true jdm license plate that was on my buddys evo VI
when he was stationed in Yokohama. i've searched on here for a front license plate and haven't found one yet. anyone have an idea where i could find one for cheap...trying to avoid the dealer. also looking for a salvage yard where i can get some parts for a 98 Subrau 2.5rs that i've come across. i've used the search but to no avail. so any ideas?
Why a Japanese plate? Just a question... I came from the German car world where things like front license plates were physically a different shape, and often times the US plates didn't fit in the front molding area, but JDM plates are the same shape as a USDM plate. With all the headaches I've been thru on my German cars, there's a lot less argument for why and legality of it. I've been to court at least 3 times over the German plate until I finally received a notification from a Judge for a lack of Due Process on the 3rd offense. In Puyallup, I ended up getting a Judge that actually had a determination to find a law about foreign plates on a domestic car. After talking with customs, WSP, the DMV, and a couple of Federal agencies it was determined there was no law saying you can not have a foreign plate displayed, as LONG AS THE PROPER VEHICLE LICENSE PLATE WAS DISPLAYED.
All in all, it was a real headache with a foreign plate on the car. If you do not display your legal plate, and only have the JDM plate in place, be prepared for an instant reason to be pulled over and harassed.
(I did have my Washington plate hanging down directly below the German plate.)
I've even had tickets for having my Washington plate in the windshield of my car, on the dash. There is an RCW that determines the location left to right, and proper height and angle the plate must be displayed to be deemed legal.

I butchered my front plate so it is still attached but not taking up space or blocking the headlight or anything else... was harassed by a cop about it but I told him you can read the numbers on it so who cares, and he never gave me a ticket-
if you must run a front plate to avoid a ticket might as well trim it down so it doesnt look as bad!!!

ive had euro plates on my dubs and audis and never had problems. also had a jdm plate on my wrx. i ran it across my buddy who has one on his 350z and he's never had a problem since he switched his registration from washington to kentucky. i've been rolling with kentucky for a bit and dont plan on changing to washington. do you have to drill holes in the bumper to put the mount on? i was throwing it on for a little jdm look just like the euro look on the dubs and bimmers.

I just went completely without... I couldn't drill the holes for the stock mount... seemed like I was defacing it or something.
