Heads up people, parked my car at the Federal Way mall down on the Sears end facing Pacific Highway. Parked towards the back of the front half of the parking lot to avoid dings. Came out and there was a white beat up Chevy Astro van parked extremely close to my passenger door like inches away, could only see the front clip of my car but I could tell the van was close. The van was running because the tail lights were on.

Sent my nephew out to get the car because he loves to drive the EVO and he could tell something was wrong. Walking towards the car he used the remote to unlock the door, imediately the van put the car in gear and drove away. He told me that the sliding van door on the side was open and there was a guy there by the EVO's shielded door.

By the time I figured the car was in the process of being boosted the van was gone and didn't get a license #. Don't know if the cops would do anything because no crime was yet committed.

It was close.

Definitely looked like they did this for a living. Nephew and I think organized pros that chop and sell, I bet we scared the crap out of them by unlocking the doors and flashing the lights.

I let my ccw permit expire so I couldn't even GLOCKFU their *** if they didn't take off, probably better this way, really don't want any trouble.

Definitely got lucky.

Kind of scary considering I left my car parked there the other day before we all met up. Just because they spruced up that mall doesn't mean all the trash is gonna go away.

Well Evo's have transponder keys, and unless they had a way to reprogram the ECU on them, they wouldn't of gotten the car, just it's contents. Other than that, they'd need a tow truck to just tow it away.

+1 ^^^ There is a chip in the key and it has to be programmed for it to work on the car.

The police would probably still like a description of the van to help them in fighting car theft there. That mall has several cars stolen a day.

Glad you guys went out when you did.

As for transponder keys, the Evo can still be stolen. That is just something to slow them down.
