muffler design race/street

I just got back from a lapping day in Spokane. Remarkable how fast a GT3 and a C6Z06 can be when well driven.

But anyway, the long drive, catless and aftermarket exhaust, was brutal. I wore big head phones but it was still annoying.

Thinking a better rear muffler that would bolt on the rear section of pipe might be an answer.

Something along the lines of a two or three foot piece I could replace once I got to the track.

Anybody with muffler technology that could tell me if it would be worthwhile, quiet wise, without a cat?

And a thanks to the WSP who let my 79 in a 70 pass with a "no mass".

What I did helped alot. I used a Vibrant mini muffler in place of my testpipe. Same as what AMS does on theirs but for 2bolt exhaust. It actually helped alot more than expected. Normal driving it barely raised the db over stock cat. When you build full boost it still has the aggressive tone. I run a comp TI-C, same as Trust TI but stainless piping and it is very tame traveling down the highway.

Shameless plug...I'll be taking it off my car soon too. Even has o2 bung it in for my wideband

I have a 3" dp/catless with Greddy Evo-II TB section. It's not bad at all.

I only use my straight-pipe on the track and swap it for the cat when getting to / leaving from the race track. Not only is it less annoying, but there's really no good reason to stink up the place when all you're doing is cruising along the freeway.
