wtb traffic attorney
i was driving the family suv today, got pulled over on i5 near lynnwood. cop slapped me with a ticket for doing 75 on 60 and driving with no insurance. i tried to pass the car infront of me cuz he signaled doing 50 in the middle lane and he didnt change lane, so i sped up. honestly, i have no idea i was doing 75. and my mom was nice enough to put the insurance and registration in the rear glove box, cop took off before i can finish looking through the car.
never had a speeding ticket before, should i contest hearing or get an attorney? if attorney, any recommendation? i've heard about Jeannie Mucklestone but shes pretty damn expensive.

I would challenge it and get an attorney so it won't go to your record. Your insurance might go up if it goes to your record. Attorney fee around $250-$300 as far as i know. I think it's better than suffer for the next 3 years or so for paying high insurance. Hopefully someone will recommend a good Attorney.
^i'll do some research and call some people and see if i can help. Otherwise just get an attorney to represent you.http://www.seattletrafficlawyer.com/ i don't know if this help you. $285 to represent you.http://waticket.com/_wsn/page2.html same thing on this. $300. And plus i think if you represent yourself there is this thing called bereavement or some sh*t that you can use to get away once and the judge will tell you not to get a ticket within a year or else you would pay the past ticket and the new ticket plus to infraction to your driving record.make sense?
If you have that option i would do that. Just try to avoid to get any speeding ticket again. Get a radar detector too. Keep in mind where the cops hide too esp. in I-5. I kinda have an idea where they hide esp. in the freeway entrance ramp (or overpass) and of course side of the freeway.
Not bereavement, it is referred to as a deferment or deferred citation. You will have to pay the fine with a deferment, but it will not go on your record (MVR) if you don't get a ticket within a year; a big downside is if you do get another citation that you don't fight/win, you will get 2 citations on your record and rates will likely go up. Also, the judge has to grant the deferment, but likely will, and you can only use a deferment once every 7 years.
One thing to know about an attorney is that they could possibly request a deferment on your behalf if they represent you. Meaning, you could pay them to represent you and all they do is request a deferment (something you could have done for free + fine). Just be sure to notify the lawyer not to do that, unless it is the final option.
I never used Mucklestone as she toned down her practice at one point, right when I needed her. I went to Mitch Greene and he forwarded me to Andrew Phipps as it was an out of area citation. Andrew fought and won, and has since been the only attorney I have used with 100% success (don't ask how many I've gotten out of...).
His # is 425 688 0787
*edit - +1 on a radar detector. I have a 9500i which has easily paid for itself a few times over for myself and others I've warned. A couple times I have even slowed down knowing something was coming up, and other people that didn't slow down with me were pulled over.

Unfortunately I learned these things the hard way.
I hate it when I get a ticket and would rather put some attorney's kid through college than subsidize the local city/county, etc.Actually, the steps to fight tickets can be done by anyone, you just need to know what to do. There is basically a list of items that the attorney will go through including, but not limited to:
- ensure the citation was filed in time (I think it is a 3 or 5 day window, which you can find online)
- subpoena the radar/laser calibration results
- subpoena the officer
At each item on the list the citation can be thrown out if certain criteria aren't met. I can't remember the figure but I think it was like 90% of the time all of the criteria aren't met. The reason is that something like 85% of people that get a citation just pay the fine so the ROI of the officer ensuring everything is by the book in all situations isn't necessarily positive.
Don't quote me on the %'s as I read that long ago!

I just got one of these the other day and am using Fred Hopkins again so we will see how it goes. Revenue generation is in full affect with all the deficits everywhere so expect the number of these being handed out to go up.

Sorry to throw a neg to the subject but lynnwood is the hardest place to fight tickets. Most dont have good odds there. I have a guy that is 4 for 4 that i have used one being in lynnwood in I5 doing 84 in a 60.
