D'oh! I actually forgot that they're from the same manufacturer. With that said, I'm pretty sure you'd also be ok to run that in Rally America. NASA enacted a rule this year to allow frankenstein cars to compete, meaning motor & chassis from different manufacturers.

Not the same "metro" but could be good for inspiration.

Metro 6R4. Great cars. Good old days of Group B . I was looking around on the sites at home for some schemes from our Swifts of the early 1990s...no luck yet but hopefully soon .

Yeah quite a popular swap for the older Swift's these days. Was thinking about this suggestion but since I still haven't yet seen some kind of link as to what is legal vs what isnt....

Never seen it in a starlet before...more popular swaps are the blacktop 20v or the 4AGE.

A Metro? Really?
Logging road fun at best, but seriously, for an actual attempt at racing, start with something that is at least...well raced! You're not going to find any aftermarket support, so it would mean fabricating and doing the math for everything! Totally not worth it IMO. You can get a 85 GTI (A2 chassis are MUCH stiffer than rabbits, and as a number of rally drivers told me make a much better starting platform than the rabbit.) and be so much farther ahead... not to mention, you could buy stuff like... struts, brakes, all the crap you won't find for that hunk of Metro..

He got it for free, NOOB

But yeah, you are right. It's a first car. It wont be (nor could it if they wanted) going fast.

So yeah, very good point, though. I wish I had done a golf... haha
