Neither of my cars has a front plate, nor will they ever get one. It looks horrible as well as ruining function (blocks FMIC on my Mazda), that and my Evo came from Cali, so there is no bracket lol

Truthfully even in the car came from Cali, once you brought it to WA it is up to you to make it legal for WA. In WA (and several other states) if you were the original owner it came with the bracket stored in the trunk. Even in some states that don't have the law. What I had heard is that some shady dealerships took them out and then would make the customers come back and buy them later or offer it as an "option."

On the FMIC part (for the Evo) that comes up everytime this law is discussed, honestly if you use the stock FMIC and the stock mounting location it won't block flow. That location was choosen from the VI on from the factory for that exact reason. If you get a bigger IC it will and then you need to further offset the plate to the right (looking from the front) as mine is.

In any case, if we can get rid of the law, I'm all for it. What I don't like is whenever this one comes up all the skethcy excuses I hear bandied about about why the plate is not being run. If you don't want to run the plate, don't run it. And man up if you get pulled over for it. But don't come up with excuses that are going to fall apart with 10mins of the officer's/courts time.

I got one three weeks ago while parked by burnside. It got dropped, but I have a plate on my car now. I honestly don't see what the big deal is. It looks 100 times better on our cars off to the side than any other car. And now I have some cool ralliart frames

And this petition coming from a state that has that wonderful no aftermarket exhaust law?? hehe
up North the cameras seem to take pix from behind you, after you're in the intersection. Haven't received one yet (knock on wood) so I'm not sure the rules and how easy to fight them in WA. I'm guessing I call my attorney and I'm good, but I'm not sure.

That's odd they use the one behind you, usually they want to get the driver's face as well... (so you can't play the, the car was stolen trick).

I read that. Even though he didn't say it, it always comes up at some point. Take a peek back at the last 3 or 4 iterations of this thread. I was just heading it off and hence why I said "For the Evo"

But even failing that, my two other points stand no?

"thx for the info, peace"
Did you ever get that letter from Mitsubishi?

LOL no. Our cars come with a mounting bracket for the plate. It's obviously OK to be there. I was just hoping to get out of it lol..

I don't get what the big deal is for it to be there. I think it looks good. Gives me an opportunity to sport a cool plate. And if I move to a state that says not having a front plate is ok, then i get to put a bad *** ralliart ad there.

Have you ever seen a car that the front plate looks like it's supposed to be there? It always seems if it's some add-on POS bracket that doesn't center/fit/align well just from multiple countries having different shaped plates. Not to mention the 3 7/16" (.45 cal (Aaron? lol)) dia bolts that need to be drilled. If the factory really wanted it there, the holes would be molded in, so no drilling is required, and the bracket sits straight in it's proper little home.

I don't know how many I've seen on Evo's that didn't align right, so the plate hangs down, rests crooked, etc. They're just ugly in general, not part of the original designer's intent. I think Mitsu did an awesome job especially on the IX's on the bumper/headlight design, the plate looks like a cheap add on every time.
