headon crash in washington (blk evo) txting caused.

saw this just now on the news they keep calling it a mitsu..eclipse..i doubt that is a eclipse lol..

hope the kid is alright when all is said and done...txting while behind the wheel is a stupid idea ..at least take the time to pull over or just call hands free. but how do u even end up going the wrong way while doing all that .

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - A Clark County, Wash., Fire District 6 spokeswoman said a young male driver was text-messaging just before a head-on crash Tuesday that left him with traumatic injuries.

Spokeswoman Dawn Johnson said the 18-year-old unidentified driver was northbound in a Mitsubishi Eclipse on a local street when he swerved into southbound lanes and collided with a GMC Sierra truck. Johnson said the young man's mother came to the crash site and said her son had been texting her at the time.

The young man was taken to Southwest Washington Medical Center for treatment; his condition was not known. The male truck driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

According to Clark County Fire District 6, the driver will be cited for negligent driving in the second degree.

According to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, the man had no insurance and was driving with a suspended license.

Yeah I hope the kid isn't going to be seriously injured, but I do hope this shows people what can happen while you're distracted, especially when texting. I have trouble just answering my phone while driving, let alone send a text.

Also don't drive without a license OR insurance. I can't imagine what this would end up like if he hit a smaller car.

Funny how the guy in the truck could get in trouble as well for the suspended licence =) + no insurance.

Actually i believe the article states the man driver of the truck was the one who was driving on a suspended license and with no insurance. So good thing the accident wasnt his fault or he'd be screwed paying for a new evo. And BLAH i hate to see this! Hope the kid is ok. Poor evo. On the bright side, every time something like this happens you can add a few cents to the value of our cars

I knew the problem the moment I read:

"The driver was 18 year old......"

Its official. Evo's are now becoming the new DSMs.
