My dodge is a manual and tows better then my previous fords with autos ever did. What makes you think dmax has more towing power then a cummins? I can tow my 48ft enclosed at 75+ no problem, and i never need to down shift if you have the exhaust brake going. Does your dmax have a programmer or is it stacked?

Was about 16k going to the shoot out with a big Enclosed which has lots of frontal area. I would say my Dmax is down 3-4mpg over my 95 12v in all situations. If I were to justify mpg I would say my top towing speed most of the time with the 12v was 65-70mph due to gearing ware as with the Dmax I can do 75-80mph.

After Crashing my Dodge into a wall I will never own a manual truck again. Every thing is fine if you are down shifting and using the exhaust break but in a panic situation. Manual Dodges are fail since the breaks will not work with much of a load unless you are down shifting keeping the rpm up.

Cummins was 290whp 700 ft lbs, the Dmax is 419whp/790 torque at 10psi less boost. The cummins was free mods, the Dmax is Edge/EFI live. One of our friends makes 330/900 with free mods in his 12V, so as much as torque is fun power is good too.

What good is the ex break and down shifting when a kid runs out in front of you? Or something comes up you did no plan on? With the Allison and the way it down shifts in any situation it is stopping as fast as it can if I hit the breaks.

I feel the Cummins can make more hp but the HP VS EGT for Towing is way better on the Dmax. Would take a compound setup on a Dodge to get a good towing EGT. I have friends that have towing twins on there Dodge and tow with 500hp and 1200ftlbs. Way to much hp for a tow truck.

While bigger Singles make for much lower Max EGT in a Race situation they can cause higher EGT in towing situations.

Aaron do you have the pics of the Dodge when something that you dont plan on comes up?

There is no Auto that comperes to the Allson in small trucks expect in the Newest stuff. If I wanted a manual truck the Dodge is the only way to go and if you want an older Auto Truck the Dmax Allison is the only way.

Exhaust brake plus truck brakes plus trailer brakes never had to down shift in a pinch. And my egt has never gone past 1000 towing hills loaded. And if kids are running infront of you thats why i have a set of train horns..

If you have time to Honk you have time to stop. This is no joke when you kill some one.

Well the Pinch Happened to me and I will never let it happen again. Big rigs use ex breaks and down shift to save on breaks or keep them from over heating not emergency stopping. Non air break trucks clutch in idling dont stop for ****. When you are loaded heavy.

My camper and bigger trailer with 2 cars is right at 26k and my GN with our Bobcat 442 is right at 32k combined.

With down shifting and and ex breaks my Dodge stopped very well, But 6 deep in the cab in a panic and cant grab gears the fronts just locked and backs did not work well at all since truck was idling and since it was not slowing at all the trailer breaks did not engage much. I have found break controllers that are pressure activated which would be much safer.
