^I don't think anyone questions the fact that you have style; the problem with style is that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The fact that you are taking a performance AWD car and purposely negatively affecting its performance is what people are commenting on.

Realize that these are people that utilize the car in a performance manner. Maybe not entirely what it was intended for initially (said: they aren't rallying them...yet) but everyone I've seen with differing comments do race their cars in some form or another.

It sounds like you do good work, and I still can't believe how much time/money you spend on your gf's car, but at least it is a project that keeps you busy. Best of luck.

Eh not everyone builds their car to drag race or track. I do still plan on putting 400hp to the wheels but this car isn't gonna be beat on. My drift car is a different story. Drifting is also the same thing, no one builds their drift cars just for function. Drifting is style, form, function while looking good at the same time, kinda what im doing to the evo. This car is gonna be drivin very short distances daily with maybe a few WOT pulls here and there but not often.

OP, it doesn't help that I'm not personally a fan of 6-spoke rims too.
No I had a thought process lapse and wasn't paying attention. I thought he had said that he had the stock rims too.

Good luck with the tire/wheel combo. Let us know how it turns out. I am running 17X10 ET28. I run 255/40R17 tires (but you know that ) I personally wish that I had gone with 17X9.5.

The 255s are a little stretched out on the wheels. Personally they are about as small as I feel comfortable going on my wheels. I throw my car into some turns sometimes and I don't like to think of popping a bead while pulling lateral g's.
For what it's worth though, stretched sidewalls do increase the steering responsiveness of tires.
I have a slight rub in the front when in full lock if under a little throttle. I think this might be my mudflaps though. I need to figure it out before I autocross again, but I didn't go at all this year. I don't want to roll my fenders.

Yeah and I have newb's trying to tell ME I need to roll my fenders to run 9.5's. It's funny when I own a fender roller, rolled over hundred fenders and owned over 50 sets of wide rims on numerous cars. It's funny when people that have probably never owned a set of wheels wider than 8.5's and go around spreading false information. Everyone will just have to wait and see when im done.

It seems like you know what you're doing, so why did you start this thread asking wheel fitment questions? Anyway, good luck with everything and let's get some nice pics when you're done

You do need to roll your fenders with 9.5s 90% of the time if you run anything below an offset of ~35-38 and don't run the ghey euro stretched look.

The whole stretch and poke Euro drifter craze is pretty "catchy" looking but not on a car that is built for function such as an evo. I can understand the whole not tracking your car part. But I'm gonna have to agree with R/T on this one. I think most of us purchased our cars to track or put performance first looks later. I mean we are driving a pretty bland 4dr with a big wing.

Downgrading the performance to slam it, add 11in wide wheels for no reason, and then stretch tires on it isn't going to be widely accepted. Might look cool I guess. But I'm the kinda person who thinks even the evo dave mod looks pretty silly. Like Eric has said with correct offsets a 9.5in or 10in wheel is more than enough and works for 255-285 sized tires.

It sounds like your comfortable with fender work though so I am sure you can fit it. But gonna take some heavy fender messaging especially in the rear, bang in the front weld seams, probably rub through your fender liners, and a ton of camber. But it can be done for sure. Curious to see pics myself I guess.

Cliff: not hating just seems a tad overstated. Curious to see outcome though

I actually wasn't asking fitment questions, I was asking for feedback as far as how they look. But it that's old news I already bought different wheels.

The only reason I was going to try and make 11's work is because I already had a few sets laying around. Rather than be another person and go buy rota grids in a smaller size I thought id put some nice quality wheels on. Once I found the wheels for sale we really wanted to put on the car I went ahead and bought them. I will be running a narrow tire for these wheels so I don't have to hack up the fenders. I do understand a lot of the people on here beat on there cars and drive them the way they were built to be drivin but my gf will be driving this back and forth to work. If I feel like taking this to the track ill swap out a set of drag radials and rpf01's I have laying around.

Rota's may not be the elite wheel but I know a few friends who run them on their track cars that are some of the fastest evos in the NW. Function over looks I guess. $4k coilovers > $4k wheels imo.

I have never personally wanted or owned a set but for a 2nd track wheels set I'd buy them in a heart beat. Seeing what happens to track wheels not sure if I want to destroy a set of Buddy Club QF's anytime soon.

That comment was not to you or anyone with rotas, I actually have a set for winter wheels myself. I was just stating that to the people that were bashing me for owning 18x11s and CONSIDERING putting them on the evo.

NEWS! Just found out that $1,500.00 evo 9 swap I bought has forged rods, pistons, ARP rod bolts and balance shaft delete!!!! WOOOOO! even better of a deal! Now time for those ACL rod & main bearings to go in! Now I have an extra set of ARP rod bolts for sale!

Sounds like you already had your mind made up long before other people's advice. If that's the case, why start a thread asking for people's input? Just do it, get it done like you know how.
