Evo backed into =(

Well about 3 weeks ago while i was working someone decided to back into the front of my car and leave no info . The damage wasnt tremendous but it was enough to get me motivated on a few things.

that is a pretty bad picture of the damage. it was shot late at night with a camera phone.

So i took it to a friends Shop called AE auto body. Anthony is the owner and he is a great dood and has a top notch painter (Brad) and a phenomenal body man (jerry). They gave my insurance a quote of the damage which included

Broken headlights
Smashed Intercooler
a little core support work
new front bumper cover
new front lip
then some work on the hood, then time and labor to paint the front bumper hood, left and right fendor then blending into the front doors.

Well the cost came up pretty high. 5k+ for OEM headlights, bumper cover, lip, stock intercooler and some other things.

So i decided to go used and aftermarket to save me some money.

First thing i did was got ahold of a member on here (MyEvo8Urs). He sold me his barely used stock 8 headlights with everything for i think 450 shipped and insured? Great deal!!! thanks Gus.

Then after saving a butt load of money there I decided to upgrade my IC wit ha 3.5 ETS kit , short route uicp and licp, with a ETS mini battery and ETS intake. All in high gloss black. besides the intercooler.

while all this was going on. I got a response from Javier off evom for some bnib Evo 9 tails, He told me he had a brand new evo 9 SE drivers seat that he would sell me for a steal also 200.00 for the seat . So i drove up to seattle and picked up the new 9 tails and SE mr drivers seat. Thank you very very much Javier!!!

I have not spent alot of money in modding my car since i owned it. so i figured this would be a good time to start. So i got ahold of Adam at Map for some basics. I ended up ordering a AEM wide band , hallman cockpit mbc, Walbro 255lph hp fuel pump, and a Prosport 30-30 electrical boost gauge. thanks Adam for the great customer service!

Now getting to the body work on the evo. I talked alot with Anthony at AE and since the RR stock paint is crap. and alot of my car was extremely faded and pink. the roof, trunk, quarter panels ect.

So after some talking i decided to get a whole new paint job, with full body work. Staying with the phoenix red that it came with. Anthony ordered the paint from APS and let me buy it with his discount. We got the top of the line paint with clears, and activators. $722.00 for a gallon of red . total cost of all the paint $1360.00 for the quality it's well worth it though. I figured since im not going to get another paint job i might as well do it right.

I also decided to do a Nose chop on my 8 bumper. I was going to go with the 9, but I looked at alot of pictures and i didnt like how the 9 fog light holes covered up all the ets intercooler. With a nose chop the 8 bumper is freaking sweet!

here is the bumper with the piller freshly chopped out.

Then this is pretty much finished and ready for spray. Note how he molted the top back together were it was chopped out! pro imo

there was alot of body work to be done, here are some pictures of it being sanded and fixed.

So that's all for now. today friday they sprayed the front/rear bumper and sideskirts. monday it will be put back together and buffed. Then i will be putting on the ets parts and will update this. Sorry for how long this post was. just wanted to share it

O yea this morning i ordered 1000cc injectors used from member evokid511 4k miles on them for $225.00 not bad. I will be ordering my s2's after i find out how much the paint job is running me. then Headed up to ER for a e85 tune.
Thanks again to everyone who has helped and involved.

Also if anyone reading this has a set of good shape blacked out or 9 headlights looking to trade+cash on my end for 8 stockers please let me know.

That sucks, but hopefully with insurance you didn't have to spend too much. Can't wait to see the paint job, and I also agree nose chopped 8's look way better.

Yea I'm hoping so also fuzzydoodle , saving so much on the headlights. It should balance out pretty well. Then there were other areas I saved a butt load of money also.

That really sucks about how this started, but good to see you're well on your way to getting through it. That POS that backed into you probably drove off laughing, no less.

Looks good after it all. Red is nice, I know my fiance would love my car if it was red.

SharkM87 is right. FMIC's look sweet w/o the grill but it does help protect the FMIC and stencil from getting all scratched up and crap. Besides, the grill is hardly noticable.
