Just a question........

So I was up underneath my evo a while back changing my oil and noticed that it had an upgraded greddy oil cooler. I am the second owner of the car and it is lightly modded. My question is why would someone upgrade the oil cooler on a lightly modified car when the stock setup is sufficient for light mods. As far as I know the motor is stock. Just curious on everyones input

This is what I'd guess:

Either because they knew what they were doing had big plans for the car, and knew to start with reliability mods first.

It was heavily modified at one point.

They got a good deal on the cooler, and figured why the hell not.

They did not have big plans for the car, and they had more money than sense.

I'm guessing the last 2 options are most likely.

Honestly the stock oil cooler is great the only reason I think it was changed was becasue the motor spun a bearing and they replaced it with a greddy. But that is just my two cents

Unless he really just wanted to mod that part, my thinking is that the stock cooler got hit by some road debris or something and he had to replace it...

I think these two nailed it on the head. One other guess I can think of is maybe it was tracked hard (or had plans to be).
