IRDC High Performance Driving School at Pacific Raceways

July 10- Ground school Saturday morning July 9 and on track Sunday July 10
http://www.irdc-racing.com/irdc_school.htm

Anyone thinking of getting some track time in this summer should check this out.

I have been looking into all the options of getting started in track/lapping events and here is why I chose this one:
-Held on the weekend. You know incase you work or something during the week.
-On track driving with one-on-one instruction from a competition-licensed instructor.
-Successful completion of the school qualifies you for a Novice racing license from the International Conference of Sports Car Clubs (ICSCC).
-Free IRDC membership with school entry. A lot of 'club' schools make you pay an additional membership fee to join their porsche/alfa/etc. club.

I am signing up for the Drivers School, but if you have 'proveable' track experience you can just sign up for the Lapping potion if you want.

Hope to see some more evos there. PM me if you want to go down as a group.

$250 for instruction day, $200 on top of that if you want to/can do the lapping sessions afterward.

I was curious, so I looked it up. Figured you might be as well

Sounds like fun. I wonder, as a certified Instructor, if they would give me a discount

do they have high speed autocross days here? If I just want to do lapping days do I have to take the class? $450 for some track time seems mighty expensive

I think it's $250 for lapping and the class. Which is about the same cost as Porsche or the other clubs.

No high speed autocross up here. If you want on Pacific Raceways the best process is one of the clubs "schools" like the one talked about here. Once you have been through it with one group you can then get access to the others as well.

I'm thinking about doing the SCCA time trial on Friday July 15th and then Cantrell Motorsports Lapping day on July 27th.

Interesting that you read it that way. From looking at thier site I am under the impression that it is $250 with class, OR $200 without. I would hate to think that they charge $250 just for classroom instruction with no track time.

Additionally, their site says 'We are including a Lapping group with our schools.' I took this to mean there was a lapping group sharing the track with the people that are there for the school (since you can sign up without the school portion if you have prior experience).

I emailed them to clarify. Will post when I get a response.

I did the school last year.

250 for the school which is a classroom session the day before lapping and then lapping with an instructor the next day (who can sign you off for icscc novice program).... 250 is for both the classroom and the lapping

200 for just the lapping day which runs in between the school lapping groups, no instructors

Yeah, I see how I could have read that wrong. I guess I assumed yhat since it was two different registrations, it was two different sessions. One for class/lapping and another for a separate lapping group. Seems odd they would mix students with experienced drivers on course to me. Maybe it is broken into alternating sessions?

There are different run groups, pretty much the same as how all the clubs do it. Groups for newbs with instructors, groups for medium experience, and a fast group.
