Passing emissions with TBE..

Running no cat. AMS TBE. ER tune doesn't have the cat/o2 set, unfortunately.

Anybody have any luck with those o2 spacers?

Testing in King County, fwiw...

If you are on a sniffer test, you must get a stock cat. If you have a visual inspection, then don't be an idiot and put a stock cat on the car.

Also make sure that all the periphery bits are set so you get the proper ODBII readiness codes set and you should be good to go.

Aaron likely gave you the 'pass emissions' magic when he tuned your car. Seattle doesnt use the sniffer on awd cars, they just connect to the OBD2 port.

I've already been once and failed only because cat/o2 readiness wasn't set. So clearing it won't do any good because it will never set. Also means I don't have the "pass emissions" magic tune .

So back to an o2 spacer with these cars... Anybody have experience with it? I'd prefer to not have to drive down to ER just for a quick flash (I'm in Seattle).

We'll do it for free as long as you have access to a cable and can send me a log. How long ago did we tune your car? If you are coming down for IFO in Woodburn this weekend I can do it on site easy enough.

Furthest you would have to drive is Puyallup to meet with Billy@English to get the flash done.

Puyallup could be do-able. It wasn't tuned at ER under my ownership, previous owner had it done... So I don't know what your policy is for that. I do have the original dyno sheet if you have any ID to the car on that, or if it's purchasers last name, VIN, plate #, etc. Let me know what my options are!

I know mine was saved by license plate, but that may have just been a dyno day thing

What's the deal with the sniffer? I used to own a Subaru and I'm pretty certain they stuck a sniffer up the exhaust and just had me in neutral. This was at the emissions place in eastgate

Our cars are obd2 they only require no check engine light and a gas cap attached to pass. I'm emission certified I know. They don't do visuals or any inspection, just hook up to obd2 part and make sure your monitors are ready and functioning!

sounds like the tune is your best option, but on my 1st evo 8, i had a straight tbe and passed emissions using the o2 spacer. maybe i got lucky, but it worked just fine. another option if you so choose

i got an extra cat if you just need one for the emissions i also have a full stock exhaust you can use it just for emissions and then return it when you are done with it so that way if the do the sniffer or visual inspection you would be good just pm me if you need the exhaust.

Let me know if they do the sniffer or OBD at the Bellevue one (I'm assuming that's where you're having it tested). I have a TBE, no cat, no rear O2 sensor oh and no OBD2. JDM engines are fun!

That's where I went. They don't do the sniffer. Check gas cap and OBD systems.
