I personally don't like 8000K; had them on one of my SuperDuty trucks back in the day and don't really like the "everything is now blue" flavah. To each their own as I know some people really like the look. For a non-stock HID (not 3500k for best output) I have always liked 6000K

One day I was a Derek's house and TJ showed up with 12k's (magenta), anyone know if he is still running those? Seems the light scattered so much compared to Tony's in a side-by-side.

Yes TJ is still using those. 6k will be a little brighter but out of all the hid's, I love the blue the most. It looks nice to me and are still plenty bright.
