Have you done the math? The idiot box on the dash is an inaccurate piece of junk. What octane / ethanol mix of fuel are you running?

the skinny pedal... the one on the right... stop pushing it down so fast.

Anyone who wants good MPG's needs to drive accordingly. IMO, we should do what Kia customers did and notify the EPA that the estimates are unrealistic. Yes, I do get 30+ MPG but I also drive unrealistically to get it. I know most of you can't do 55 MPH on the highway. You'd get run over. I can because I work midnight shift, and I'm the only car on the road and not obstructing traffic.

We have only gone through 1 full tank of fuel and that's the full tank the dealership provides. I checked air pressure the next day and 3 tires were at 27 psi and the other was at 31. I like to set mine at 2 psi higher. We averaged 28 mpg per hand calculation. Over 1 week tire pressures were 1.5 psi lower than spec. I am considering filling with N2 for more consistent pressures.

It's been awhile, and I wanted to update this. We hit 10k on the car, and I changed the oil again, this time to 0w20. BOOM- Got our 3-4mpg back instantly.

Don't run 5w30 in this car.

what's your average top cruising speed? Is your 37MPG easy to achieve.. on a consistent basis?

You know how this diesel thing makes my blood boil. This guy is about to make my head explode

Ramaht, I'm referring to the fact that I WANT a diesel and it irritates me that Mitsubishi has a great engine being offered over seas but not here in North America

Truth! He is right: the car asks for 0w-20 synthetic, synthetics I am telling all of you guys:

Mobil 1 full synthetic 0-20
Mobil 1 ep filter
Cosworth or k&n filter, and off you go!

Feels, runs and pulls so much more smooth, and even in Boston in the city traffic, saw around 23 mpg. My wife got 28.5 mpg on the freeway the other day with some city miles mixed in no problem.

How about going for an implosion instead... less mess.

UPDATE
- I went to a local dealership and explained my situation about poor MPG. He gave me the same crap of "driving style, winter fuel blends" ... nothing we can do he said. So i contacted the dealership where i recently bought the car. Talked for a long time with a fantastic technician. He ran diagnosis on the car, said it was fine, not running lean or rich. Talked to me about it gradually improving as the car miles move in and after the first oil change things will improve. I only have 2500 miles on the car now but its slowly improving. Started at 19MPG and now averaging 25. I'm thinking around this summer with the first oil change and the better gas and more miles i will be reaching my goal of 28-30 MPG.

Side note- can someone explain, i have not looked yet but the oil situation with this car, i have heard some of you talk about it but what does the car use/want. When are you guys changing the oil? Thanks guys
