I'm almost certain they'll work... not as certain that the setup will be perfect, spring rate etc...

Looks like the H&R Springs I got from Tirerack were indeed ONLY for the Outlander not Outlander Sport despite what they listed on their website. The front springs will fit fine but the rear H&R springs are 4.5" OD versus 4.0" OD on the OEM Outlander Sport.

So now I have 2 choices, modify the existing spring perches to work or look into getting some late model Outlander rear strut assemblies. I wonder if they are a stiffer shock and spring combo already since the regular Outlander is 500-600 lbs heavier.

I was told the rear springs off a Lancer will fit. I have a set of OE Lancer Ralliart springs I'm going to try. I'm not sure how it will ride but I'm going to try them.

I am talking to a spring company near me, I think my car will be getting lowered on there springs around june. If there is interest or a interest in a group buy I know they will produce numerous kits with confirmed orders. They will have my car for about a week doing R&D for spring rates and height adjustments. I will keep everyone posted on this once it gets closer.

There will definitely be interest in a reasonably priced lowering spring option with matched spring rates to the OEM shocks.

For now I plan on using front H&R springs and will look to cut half a coil off the rear springs. I know the general idea of cutting down stock springs to lower the car is a bad idea but if done in measured amounts it's not "that" horrible to slightly increase spring rates and lower the car about 1" to match the front ride height. Having a slightly stiffer rear will tend to introduce some oversteer which coupled with the front strut bar and motor mount it could end up perfect, or it might get excessive bump steer around corners, guess we'll see!

If 1/2 coil removed from the bottom isn't enough I'll cut up to 3/4 of a coil based on the drop that 1/2 gave me. Where people get in trouble is when you cut off 1-2 coils and aim to dump the car in the weeds and the springs can pop off the perch when rebounding over large bumps.

The other alternatives don't seem promising as the rear shock towers appear too narrow to accept the regular Outlander 4.5" diameter struts/spring assembly so a 4" Outer diameter spring is the only way that will work. Keep in mind that 4" measurement was a rough guess since they were still on the car.

I was actually considering grinding down the springs but you would have to take a 1/4" off the 1/2" diameter coils which is much more than a "trim" for clearance.

I plan on contacting TireRack and then see if H&R makes any springs with the diameter, height, and rates we need.

This companys springs usually go for around $200-300 depending on application. they also make custom springs and can change rates, is there a particular spring rate your looking for?

What are you looking for end result in drop? are you just loooking for the 1 to 1.5" drop to close the gap at end result.. or are you considerig a 2.5 to 3 all around.. if even possible?

But 8.5 inches of ground clearance is one of the best features of the Outlander Sport....

thats interesting... i havent found those. where did you order from?
If im correct the road race project outlander was lowered on eibach springs, but eibach nor road race ever released details on them. The stance/drop looked lower than that of the colt springs that are way over priced...

any detail as to where you ordered or what drop is expected?

The drop should be 1.5 to 2 . The site I got them from I posted a link earlier in thr thread . I hope to get them installed today. I will post pictures later.

The road race guys are advertising using another brand of spring that we found out doesn't work with our OS. I forgot the brand though. One of the other guys might know.

Oh i know.. they sell an H&R spring for the regular outlander. only fits the sports front assembly. What i meant was there outlander sport turbo concept vehicle they made.. was with eibach springs that were never produced. If the springs you have for the ASX dont work.. i wonder if they modified the strut mounts to an asx and transferred the entire setup.

Ive followed lowering the outlander sport world wide and seems the lowest they get is the asia asx model; at 2inches. Kinda wish i will figure out a coilover setup. I really wanted to bag the potential outlander sport i would buy, as the lower it gets the more it looks like a wagon.

Here is some detail about the turbo outlander sport, road race made:

Please do. I've had a cubic yard of marble rock in the trunk, that lowered the rear just a little more than 2" simply measuring the rear end, from the ground to the fender line, and still wasn't low enough for me. Maybe seeing the correct application on yours may change my mind.

If you can, post before and after pictures and measurements. Thanks buddy!
