So which lowering method did you finally settle on?

Definitely weight in on how it handles now over bumps, especially around corners with the car loaded.

Keep you guys informed on how the progress goes. btw i threw on Evo x GSR on today.. looks not too bad very flush w the sides.

I have GSR wheels to install as well. I was going to try the full evo X suspension swap and note drop with the lowering springs I have on stock wheels. Then I will be installing my GSR wheels. Lower weight wheels always net you a gain!

What did you lower it with? and did you measure front and rear before and after to give numbers?

I hope if the Evo X suspension I have doesn't work, the eibach prokit springs on there should do fine for a replacement for now. There are coilovers out there for the RVR/asx. I have also found HKS exhaust and a few other awesome parts. I will try to post them tomorrow. I have them written down at home!!

Evo X Megan race Spring

Front and back are the megan race springs for an EVO. X.
Top seats on the front were changed to the EVO X.
Rear springs needed to be cut. 2 coils were removed as they actually raised the rear by about 2 inches.

Orignal picture I posted yesterday was just after install and there was nothign in the rear. no spare. no subwoofer. Todays bottom pic is after about 100 miles driving; spare, stroller, car sear and some settling i guess.

The drop is amazing; styling and function. I think the megan race springs were not a great choice; but i jumped on them for the pricing.
Reviews have stated way too bouncy and i can confirm wayyyyyyyyyyyy too bouncy.
Corning is actually amazing, the rear bounce that stock had is gone. I dont rub in the front for now; but seems like each day it has gotten lower.

All in all i was happy with install, front was a breeze.
Rear.. well not so much. after changing spring and putting on to vehicle although shorter than stock it actually raised car by 2 inches.
2 coils were cut from the bottom as the tops have a bottler neck effect as well.

Thank you for the info. can you send me pricing, part#, and measurements before and after if you have them? If you don't have before and after can you measure from the top of the wheel well arch to the ground and let me know so I can compile this into the confirmed lowering thread. I will be trying these eibach prokit on my evo x suspension hopefully this week

Congrats again and thanks for the info! i'm not a fan of megan springs but at least we know evo x springs can be made to fit.

Ugleeboi,
Did you cut the coils from the top or bottom of spring?
I dont believe you changed top seats, so i assume it was from the top to get rid of the bottle neck the MR springs have.
Is that safe to assume?

hey guys! Sorry it took so long to finally get my pictures uploaded of my OS lowered. It's hard to tell how much it lowered it but it did lower it. There is only 3 fingers gap on the back and about 3.5 or 4 fingers gap on the front. Depends on how it is setting. The ride and handling is extremely better. Again I used the eibach springs for the ASX. No problems with the install and no other problems. The pics are before and after.

Can you host the pictures on something like photobucket, Flickr, etc, instead of attachments so we can see the difference better? Also, do you have any better before and after pictures? Thanks for sharing in advance.

Why is it that I can never tell if a car has been lowered unless it lost like over 50% of it's ground clearance?

Thanks buddy. I'm waiting for someone to come through successfully without having to cut springs. I did that 22 years ago when I was huge into lowriders and hell even back then, some of us would ride out completely taking the springs out, and riding on the bumpstops. I moved on to the world of hydraulics, and I just can't see myself cutting springs and installing that on the newest car we have of our fleet of 's.

Sorry, for the ones who think it rides better or handles better, and even though we are comparing to a stock suspension, the ride will only get worse. To think that I just invested on a $20,000 new vehicle just to ride like ***, I'd kick myself in the *** for doing that to a new car.

I know not everyone's intentions are the same as mine which is completely fine, but I'm relatively speaking for ride comfort, and not for racing or the performance aspect. I'd love a set of designed lowering springs with proper spring rates, or coilovers, and if I don't come up with a solution, a custom air ride suspension will be my answer. Spring rates are incredible and really do make a difference over OEM, and especially cut springs, so I can't imagine comparing cut springs versus lowering springs. I guess if I wanted mine to look slammed, I could just take the springs out. Haha...I'm all grown up now.

no one makes a aftermarket spring set up for O.S and probably never will unless you source something from asia or europe that had non us dot approved springs. There will be an affordable Coilover soon for us just a heads up. I will be testing a set probably within the next 2 weeks. After we tweak the set and give the info back to the company the coilovers should be available for everyone to enjoy!. will keep u inform.
